We love to go here and see all the ducks and geese it's a great place to picnic and I like to make a habit of it. It has access to the river baseball fields, frisbee golf and even camping. The bridge by the highway is a Historic Landmark and worth the visit as is the old water department building. Many of the geese and Ducks are permanent residents and breed there so it's need to come back year after year to see the permanent residents as well as all the migrating geese.

Awesome park. Nice trail for running - good scenery. Suitable for a short bike ride too. Disc golf course great. but last time I went the signs are missing from the timber post at every one of the tees, so finding the next tee box was a big challenge. Are they being replaced? Someone made the effort to write out the information on posts with a black marker - 1,000 thanks to that person. Geese population here is also out of control - poo is everywhere, but that's a problem at any park these days. With the upwind 24-7 sugar mill, consider hanging out in the east half on windy days, it can smell like you are inside a cloud of death itself and will indeed bring tears to your eyes. Camping area here is great thing that more small towns need to have - city is considering ending it, because of locals loitering in the parking lots all night. I think ending the camping area is a bad move - it brings people into the town to spend money. That means more economic activity, which the town seriously needs. In summary, I like the park. Show up, and have fun. Tell the city to not close the campground.

I love this park. It almost lost a star because the overnight rv parking is only 20 amp and runs parallel to the expressway. But neither of those would stop me from coming back. There is so much offered here between the lakes with various geese and ducks, all the sports activities and hiking trails. It's beautiful.

I just drove up to the park today from Denver. I think this is a very nice park, after all it has a pond. The reason for my visit was to check out the camping area. Overall this place to me for a in town camping area is better than most, my reasoning you ask well i will sum it up in two words free electric "SHORE POWER" If your out with the fam and it getting dark time for the kiddies to get into rv, tent, truck or car whatever your camping in that one amenity will make a big difference that night with power you able to watch television DVDs use your laptop use your cell phone use anything that uses power without worry of you burning your batteries out or using a generator to produce power. That is of course if your also don't have a solar system. So again over all people pay good money for this one amenity that you able to get for free I think it's very worthwhile the ghost day and night or more. Again this is my opinion I did not stay the night I just went up to have a look I hope this helps you with your decisions about camping or just day visiting the park. And FYI there's gas stations not even 5 minutes away on the Southside Highway 76 fast food restaurants also.
