I was referred to Dr. Pollak by my general practitioner because I needed the 'edges' of my big toenails to be removed because of years of ingrown nail pain. All but my little toenails were also ingrown & painful & so tiny that I asked him to remove all of the 6 nails. He seemed almost frantically in a rush. When he tied rubber bands around the base of each toe he kept losing his grip so they were snapping the top of my feet which weren't numb. Then he began scrubbing the nails with Q-tips dipped in acid which didn't bother me until he got to the last of the small toes on my right foot. I told him it was really stinging but he didn't acknowledge me & kept scrubbing. It hurt a lot! I told him again but he never even slowed down. At that point, I just wanted him to hurry & get it over-with. A week later I went for the follow-up & he actually grabbed each toe at the base & ran his fingers from the base up to the top of the toe. I was shocked at how PAINFUL that was! I let him know how it hurt but again, he did nothing different. I was layin' sideways in my chair it hurt so badly! Now after almost nine months later ALL of the small nails are still there & the big toenail is partly super thin & sensitive to touch and has bumps and one huge hard lump at the base of my nail. It looks terrible. All that pain for nothing but a big mess. This doctor may be okay doing other things but I would never recommend him for ingrown nail problems!
