You're a horrible place when you press charges against mentally ill patients, like Amy Johnson! When someone is having a completely manic episode, they cannot help their behavior. You should know that!!!! Shame on you for pressing charges like she's some sort of criminal. You are all clearly in the wrong field of work if you treat your mentally ill patients like that! Shame on all of you!!!

I was sent to this facility after a suicide attempt. The staff that was on duty were, with one exception, robotic and business like during the intake process. This was particularly difficult during the mandatory strip search, as a victim of sexual abuse. The only male staff member on hand to perform the search barely spoke English and just kept repeating "It is a procedure of the hospital, and we have to do this." until I broke down and complied. It was only after that that they did the intake interview where they asked if I had ever been a victim of sexual abuse... Furthermore, there were communication issues among the staff during my stay. Items that I use to cope with my anxiety, which were initially permitted for me to keep by one staff member, were later removed as a safety risk by another (not a risk to me, they said, but if someone else got hold of them). Finally, the phones broke down multiple times during my four day stay, and since visitors were only allowed on one day a week when I was staying there, this hampered my ability to communicate with my parents during a particularly serious time. Safe Haven has issues. It was a place that, while it did keep me safe while my meds got rebalanced, set me back in other ways.

As a parent I find the employees to be very helpful in answering our concerns regarding our daughter. Of course HIPA prevents giving us private information w/o our daughters consent, but I find them caring & helpful.

I was there December 3rd - 27th and it was a life saver for me. My meds weren't working for me and I became psychotic again. This was my second time there. My first time there was also a life saver. The staff are very nice, caring, concerned, helpful, funny and very personable!! Any concerns I had were answered about my mental health. I had my own room, the food was excellent, and the other patients there were very nice. I highly recommend Safe Haven Mental Hospital to anyone who is feeling suicidal or feel they are out of control and need their medications adjusted!!!! They saved my life!

I called them to register for a visit. I repeated the code to them 3 times and she kept saying that the patient can call me to give me their code. Third time must be a charm. I am shaking my head in disgust. On the other hand, the manager there who I spoke with the previous day on the patient phone which the patient actually had to hand the phone to is very polite and is actually seems qualified to assist people. The phone system works only half the time. There are problems with the phones even connecting in the first place. There are problems with audio quality. They use some sort of Voice over IP system.
