I was shopping at the location on Powell in SE Portland today. I was in the express lane, and there was an older woman having issues with payment or something along those lines. This was at about 11:30 a.m. The cashier was yelling (I don't use this word lightly) at the woman the amount she owed repeatedly. No other utterances or guidance, she was short and very rude. There was a language barrier or the customer was hard of hearing, but the cashier wasn't willing to accommodate this person, and worse, shamed her on front of a line of people. I shop at Safeway all the time. I dump a bunch of money here every month, like so many other people. I also work in retail customer service and was disgusted at how this woman was treating her customer. Even if there are difficulties, we must accommodate people and not yell at them. I have served plenty of people myself who have driven me up the wall, but have never treated a customer so badly. I will be taking my business elsewhere, which is a shame because you guys do have the best prices.

It's clean and well stocked. Most employees are helpful. But my cashier Brenda (older lady) was ridiculously rude to every person in front of me, and myself. When she asked if I wanted a bag for my loaf of bread, I politely said with a smile (kill them with kindness, right?) "it's okay, I can just carry it" She very rudely demanded "is that a yes or a no?!" The girl at the coffee kiosk however was very sweet and talkative and made up for another employees ugly attitude, and made my drink perfectly. Brenda needs to work on her customer service. We all have bad days, but that doesn't mean you get to take it out on a complete stranger, let alone one of your customers!

Prices are ok but the sercice is awful! It gets worse all of the time. It is sad too considering that years ago their service was amazing.

The place is always clean cashier's are always friendly ,courteous , attentive even conversation. You often can get in and out of there fast. If a staff see that a line is getting long they will call for help right away..lots of parking space and easy to get into the store no matter where you park. The only thing is parking is so close.ti each other.

This place is always slow--long lines and very little help. There are at least 5 registers that are not open while 10 people stand in line for one. The only reason I still go here is because I like Brenda-- She cracks me up! One star is for a good selection and close to home. The other star is for Brenda.
