A good place to park the car and backpack into the badlands. Follow one of the creeks into the badlands for a special backpacking experience.

Sage Creek in Badlands is the most majestic place I've ever camped. It takes a long time to drive to but if you're patient, the scenery and wildlife are very much worthwhile. Sit outside, look at stars, prairie dogs and buffalo.

Well maintained vault toilets in spite of probably 100 people using them for the 2 days we were camped in this area. Lots of space. Closest water is at the main entrance to the park at least an hour away. The area is mostly utilized by tent campers, but there was a smattering of trailers there as well. There are no trees. It was very warm and dry when we were there the end of June - but much cooler at night. There are a number of covered picnic tables - but not nearly as many as there are people. Plan to bring your own table and shade if you can. Bison roam the hills and primarily stay outside of camp, but a couple wandered through. Very interesting experience - but remember to respect their space.

Absolutely beautiful semi - primatve camp. Pit toilets available. Picture perfect. Solitude except for Bison, mule deer, big horn sheep, and coyote.

Perfect for a weekend! Free camping spot and there's a toilet with toilet paper (no light though). Also no shower. Place is amazing, there was a herd of bison not a 2 minute walk away from the campground and we did a little half hour hike up the hills amd around the campground and the view was amazing.
