Story

How did Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital come to be?

In 1963, a committee was formed to study the feasibility of building a hospital in Lincoln City. That committee became a formal group by a vote of the people in 1965.

This new five-member North Lincoln Health District board of directors was charged with overseeing the construction and operation of a hospital facility. Construction was funded by a tax levy, federal grant and the sale of general obligation bonds. The new hospital admitted six patients when it opened its doors on Oct. 21, 1968.

Due to growth of the hospital and advances in health care, the North Lincoln Health District voted to sign a 30-year management agreement with Samaritan Health Services in 2000. Samaritan’s motto, “Building Healthier Communities Together” acknowledges that Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital belongs to all of the residents of north Lincoln County.

Further contributing to our community’s well being, the health district partnered with the City of Lincoln City, North Lincoln Hospital Foundation and Samaritan Health Services to build a permanent home for the Samaritan Early Learning Center, the county's only five-star rated childcare center for infants, toddlers and children.

In the fall of 2015, Samaritan Health Services and the health district announced plans to construct a new hospital and medical campus on the current site, replacing the nearly 50-year old building.

Been coming here for last 4 yrs. To ER never had an experience like tonight. Was berated by the nurse. Who was rude and Obnoxious. To me in front of my son. Yes I smoke but I have been trying to quit and I have cut back and have tried getting patches but my insurance doesn't cover it. And 1800 quit only sends you 2 wks worth. But just because I smoke you don't have to tease me or make fun of me. Same with the Dr. Tonight. Samaritan is definitely going down hill with the way they treat their patients!🤤🤤🤤

I had to go to the North Lincoln ER for a heart related issue. The staff was super friendly and upbeat. Dr. Raj is hysterical! He and the nurses made going to the ER much less stressful.

The staff were all so wonderful, helpful and sweet to me. I was having a terrifying asthma attack and they could not have made my experience better

My husband had the worst experience at this location. He came in to have a procedure done, and the phycian wouldn’t perform it, and claimed he just need meds. My husband has had this issue before, and it require surgical removal. The phycian claimed he needed a different method, that wouldn’t have fixed the issue, my husband explained his history with this issue, and what has been done to fix the problem. It was the end of the physcians shift, and all he recommended was that my husband should wait til the next attending physicians shift starts, and charged him for the visit.... this is unacceptable, and its unprofessional. We will not be returning.

I was on vacation and had a really bad fall. From the staff who helped me out of the car, the nurse that held my hand, and the nurse that made a follow up call and took the time to really see how I was doing, I received excellent care. While I ended up spending 99% of said vacation unable to do much I will always be grateful to the ER staff.
