Story

Woods Bay State Park is a state park located near the town of Olanta in Florence County, South Carolina. The park contains some of the last remaining large Carolina Bays.Activities available at the park include picnicking, fishing, hiking, bird watching and geocaching. Canoeing is also popular on the one-mile canoe trail in Carolina Bay. While private boats are not allowed, rental canoes and kayaks are available.Amenities include a picnic shelter, a boardwalk through a cypress-tupelo swamp and a nature center.

Really cool park, it's a little small but there's enough to do for an afternoon of exploring. The boardwalk is really neat, it's low stepping back in time! If you go at the right times you can see plenty of wildlife.

This is a 'bigly' preserved Carolina Bay. Would appreciate if a small trail leads into the center of the bay. But is worth going for anyone interested in wetlands.

Great little park with a nice boardwalk

The most interesting thing about the park is its highly unusual but beautiful scenery. The boardwalk is built on top of a swamp surrounded by thick trees and it was as if I entered another world when I went in. Very beautiful spot to take pictures. I went in mid June and that means a lot of insects and that was probably the only obvious downside to it. Park ranger that I met was also very friendly.
