Everyone should be aware of the terrible practice by this facility. One of my family members is being treated at this facility and spoke with nursing staff and the charge nurses without response or changes. Since being in this facility, my loved ones pressure injuries have worsened. They were significant during his ICU stay, but they got Wound Care on Board at the previous facility and made substantial progress. Since going to this facility, his pressure injuries have worsened, and one that was nearly healed on his back has gotten much worse, which the nursing staff agreed with. He had been doing very little therapy, and when my grandmother inquired about doing passive ROM exercises, which he is in the hospital for, to rebuild strength, the nurse told my grandmother, "do it yourself," which is rude and inappropriate. She is also elderly and has limited mobility, so her functional ability and lack of training do not exactly make her a good candidate for providing physical therapy. Also, they are paying for the services your facility offers and not receiving them. He was transferred over with a most recent WBC of about 13,000 to 14,000 and never started or continued on antibiotics from the previous facility to you guys. Someone should have reviewed labs and discussed this before accepting this patient. Nobody caught that or decided to address that. I have MyChart proxy access for him and am one of my loved ones' Medical POAs. Since this happened, he decompensated, the antibiotics damaged his kidneys requiring dialysis, potentially for life and his white blood cell count is higher than ever, even when he was in Peak ARDS with pneumonia in the ICU being proned. It is climbing every day, and no one does anything about it despite the constant questioning. His most recent labs were 38,900, and nobody has batted an eye. It seems like you want your patients to do poorly. I don't know if the problems are staffing, a poor culture, nurses being shamed/retaliated against for questioning providers, or everyone lacking empathy and laziness. Still, it is management's responsibility to get to the bottom of it and fix these problems. The staff never has any idea what is happening except for Mikayla and Trevor, they are fabulous and deserve raises. When he asks for a bedpan, they take 15+ minutes to get him, and he ends up messing all over himself, which is probably why the pressure injuries are worsening. Another abomination of a moment was when I called the night nurse and spoke with her and asked about a fungus in his sputum culture and if they were going to do any anti-fungal medications to treat it. She said, "he is already on two antibiotics; that should take care of it." I tried to explain that antibiotics could have been a contributing factor to its development and do not treat fungal infections. Her final thought when I explained that was, "he is already on antibiotics." As a healthcare worker, I am ashamed of your facility and don't know how you are still in business with these practices. Patients and their families who are not knowledgeable about the healthcare system and don't have family members who can interpret right from wrong in healthcare are sending their loved ones to you for a death sentence. You would be furious if this were your husband, wife, mother, or father. Have some compassion and do the right thing. You are either understaffed, hiring unqualified applicants, or perpetuating a culture where individuals are shamed or retaliated against for speaking up. I beg you all to please be empathetic and do the jobs you are paid to do so your patients get better instead of slowly decompensating in your care. And these are just the things that we know have happened while visiting hours; who knows what degree of awful care is happening during the night shift when families are not allowed to be present. Update, my family member has died from infection, delayed dialysis interventions, and a medication error. Staff were confirmed to break sterile technique confirmed via my loved ones medical records.
Absolutely the best hospital I have ever been in. All of the employees no matter what level bend over backwards to take care of you. They listen and take care if your concerns. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.
We couldn’t of asked for better care from the nurses, doctors, and techs. We were here several weeks and they have all became family and have cared for my dad like their own! Kari has been the best patient case manager for us and answered/found the answer every question our family or my dad had! Truely thankful for the care we have received!
My father was in this hospital for over a month, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. My father’s health just kept declining and they didn’t seem to care. The best nurse he had was Brandi, and she seemed caring, like a nurse should. The charge nurse, Liz, was the most unfriendly, uncaring, and uncompassionate poor excuse for a nurse I’ve ever encountered. When my dad was dying, she came into his room, where my dad could still hear, and asked my brother, in a normal to louder voice which funeral home we were using. I also overheard her to telling someone on the phone, that after she’s at work for four hours, she’s ready to get out of there. Wow!!!!! Just the kind of nurse anyone would want!
Due to an accident I was moved here for rehabilitation over the almost 2 week stay I was impressed by the 5 star, world class treatment of every staff and personnel from the cleaning crew to the CEO. It excelled beyond expectations and being 8 hours from they became my family and it was bittersweet to leave. Many months remain in my therapy and I will forever be grateful for each and every person on scene and behind scene.
Where do I start? My 72 year old Mother spent about 5 weeks at this place. She left there, unresponsive, and on her deathbed, because of the poor care. She was supposed to be there, recovering from a surgery, and she left with her bloodwork showing she was malnourished, and she had 2 very large abscesses in her abdomen, caused by someone putting her colostomy bag on wrong. Because of this, it leaked into her wound and was running through her wound vac, making her septic. Nobody seemed to care that she was failing, and didn’t care enough to look into the fact that she looked 7 months pregnant, until it was almost to late. Dr Burris insisted she didn’t have an infection, even after a family member in the medical field, asked him a couple times, about her having an infection. When my sisters, asked, why her stomach was so distended, he said, “Her stomach is the least of our problems, it’s probably gas.” He said, “ I don’t think she has the will to live anymore, she will probably go to a nursing home, and be put in a corner to die.” My Mother does have a will to live, and is still fighting for her life almost 2 weeks later!! I would not recommend this place to anyone!!
Extremely helpful staff. The nurses and CNAs are top notch, and have helped speed up my recovery and made me feel like a person not a number. Very appreciative of all the staff and physicians. All around good place.
The experience I had at select was amazing the staff was friendly and helpful. The smaller staff size leads to personalized care. The staff is always willing to help with any concerns. I would recommend this experience for anyone who needs hospital level care.
My stay here at Specialty Hospital was excellent as staff treated me well and you can see they care for a person well- being. Highly recommend to anyone with health concerns.
Great place to go for your recovery. The staff here is very nice.
