My wife and I have tried this place twice and both times it was beyond disappointing. We went in today, grabbed our trays (mine had some kind of slimy stuff on the bottom that kept getting on my hands), and walked over to pick out food. My wife was craving fruit and the first cup she grabbed had a grape with mold visibly growing on it. Disgusting. I pointed it out to someone behind the counter and they took it from me with a "thanks" and then just went and put it on a counter in the back. The food here is not that great and is ridiculously expensive. There are so many people working here, yet they completely forgot to make my wife's salad even after they told her that they'd bring it out to us. I was finished eating and her salad never showed up. When I took the receipt up to the front they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Then the 4 employees behind the counter had to have a conversation about who was going to make our salad. Finally the salad arrived and... no dressing. "Oh, the dressing is up by the register," the employee says and then walks off. So beyond the service and the food... this place is just GROSS. It's dirty... my tray had some kind of slime on the bottom that kept getting on my fingers. The soda machines have sticky syrup all over them. The silverware is dirty. Really gross. Anway, I hate picking on retail folks because I know how much retail sucks, but come on... for what this place charges ($8 for HALF a sandwich and $3 per side ?!) the food and service should be excellent. It is not... not even close. It's like no one here cares. It will be closed inside of a year and something else will take its place. It's unfortunate because it's in a prime location and we really want to like it. Won't be returning.

Mediocre chicken salad, poor service. There was at least one employee per customer in this place (I was the only customer who did not already have their food) and the employees could not have cared less about helping me place my order. I had already been to the website and had a pretty good idea about what I wanted. When I asked about the chicken salad, I was told they sold it by the pound, I ordered a 1/4 pound, assuming like most places that it would come in a quarter pound cup, only after I was wrung out did the lady inform me "that's about half a scoop" of course when I looked in my bag, I realized I would need another 1/2 scoop for lunch, so I ordered that, there was no offer to change my previous order so I ended up paying $8 for what should've been (according to menu prices) about $5.50...no big deal...I also ordered the broccoli salad and was told, we don't have broccoli salad today, we have broccoli, no other options suggested or pointed out. Employees bickered as I waited for my food. If the food had been mediocre and the service great - I would probably try it again. With mediocre food and an unfriendly, unhelpful staff - I won't...too bad since it's so close to my work.

I don't know how the food is, When I got to the restaurant, it was closed for kitchen renovations. I had checked online for directions, but apparently you had to go several pages into the website to find out it was closed. Maybe that should have been posted to the online blurb that come up on the first page of your google search? I drove through the snow to get there. Instead I went to Marx Bagels.

Went there for lunch. The restaurant seems too large and vacant. This should have been a sign. Numerous staff milling around behind the counter, or, standing off to the side talking. I had to get their attention in an effort to place my order. Then there was a discussion amongst the employees of who will make my corned beef sandwich ?!?! I ordered potato pancakes and I had to ask for apple sauce. No one knew what I was talking about ?? I've seen this type of situation in the past. Soon, the staff will be replaced and there will be a constant flow of staff coming and going. All the while, service will decline and the owners of Shapiro's will not address the real problem...hiring professionals and training them. I predict Shapiro's will close in 12 - 16 months. There is no way they can stay in business with so many problems. Suggestion: reduce the size of the restaurant by 75% and shrink the staff down to people who really know what a Kosher deli is all about !! If they've never had a Kosher meal, don't hire them !!

One of the worst and most expensive meals I've ever had. There were 10+ employees behind the counter and none could answer simple questions about the meals of food. Sides were worse than cafeteria quality. Actual pastrami on one sandwich was okay, tuna salad on other was sub par and sour. It was really horrible and for $30 plus for lunch for two we'll never be back. Oh and with all that staff there were at least 6 tables covered in dirty dishes. Miss rascals so much, it was pricey but the food, staff, and everything else about it was excellent. Also, regularly when I drive past there are so many employees on break alone that they're playing makeshift bball out back. I've never seen a business with so many employees on lunch that they could play a team sport. Horrible experience overall wish I could get my money back.
