We went a few days ago hoping to cut my daughters, and my nieces hair. When we arrived it all started out fine. We paid for the wash, and I felt like we were rushed the entire time. There was walk-ins behind us (we had an appointment which we were late for by 15mins but I called ahead to let them know). 
The wash was rushed. Then when describing what I wanted for my 7yr old; just a trimmed up bob (her hair was already styled in a bob) but will an A-Symmetrical cut (one side longer than the other). The stylist assured me she understand. Then when she asked if "is this too short", before I had time to respond "Yes", she had already cut the hair.
Then if felt like a hack Job. She just started hacking at my child's hair. Cutting it without really caring. I come from a family of hairstylists, none who live near me, so I know a good cut from a rushed/bad chop. 
We ended up with a super short stacked hair in the back and two long pieces on the side. Nothing like I asked for. Thankfully my daughter can pull it off and didn't seem to mind it. But the way the stylist went about the cut, made my sister and niece choose not to get a trim for fear it may turn into a large cut off. 
The only good thing I can say was it was well set up for children and looked like a fun place to visit. However I was extremely disappointed in Tina our stylist.

Had my kiddo's first hair cut here. The stylists were great. Friendly. We were impressed by their professionalism despite my squirrelly son :)

Haircut was great, but wish the hairdresser would have asked before throwing baby powder all over my child. Some kids are allergic to it and I would rather not have talc thrown all over my kid's back.

I have been bringing my two boys here for a little over a year. I am not sure why some people say you can't watch your kids get their hair cut? I am in the cutting area the whole time. The stylists ask me if I like their cuts and when I tell them what I want fixed or changed they do it without complaint. The cuts are as good as you can get on toddler boys, far better than I could do and worth the money. Everyone has been very nice every time I've gone and while yes, they do have toys for sale, they also give out prizes for the kids when they're done. If your child throws a fit because you tell them they can't buy a toy, that's on you not the store. In fact, they do let the children play with the toys for sale in the store and even hold them while getting their hair cut. I have not gone to Cool Cuts because just from the front it looks dirty and the reviews are even worse than Shear Madness. I will keep taking my boys here until they are ready for the barber shop. Both of my boys get fades and they look great. My younger son has wavy hair and they keep the top longer to see the wave, it is super stylish. My older son loves to spike his hair and they cut it the perfect length to not look ridiculous. We all win. If you're on the fence I would say at least give it a try.

I have taken my almost 3 yr old son here twice, the first time I couldn't really complain because it was his first haircut and he was a pain so I went a second time and just felt the hairdresser really wasn't that great with a kid. I  ended up taking him to a Great Clips and they seemed much friendlier and he responded much better to them. This past weekend I decided to give them a 3rd try, this time with my almost 2yr old daughter. When checking in I stated it was her Very First haircut, never was I offered their first haircut deal, the pics, certificate, or hair clippings. I then even told the hairdresser it wad her Very First haircut,  still nothing.  I actually had to specifically ask her for some of the clippings of hair because she just went about cutting not planning on saving any. She actually just scraped the hair that had fallen into the little car and stuck them in a bag, that was it. I will never return here nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. The only thing they have going for them are the special chairs and whatever kids movies are playing on their tv's. HUGE Disappointment!
