Story

We would like to welcome you to Shelley Drive Animal Clinic . The clinic was started in 1970 by Dr Paul Arnold and joined by Dr Michael Maris in 1973. They were joined by Dr Kathy Carlson in 1986 and Dr Jon Carlson in 1989. Dr Arnold left the practice in 1991. As we have grown over the past years, we havve worked very hard to maintain a culture within Shelley Drive Animal Clinic. We are proud of the Clinic we have built and want you to feel the same.
To help us reach the next level of growth, we are asking you to assist us by understanding our organizational structure, becoming a part of our culture, and help our practice be the best that it can be.

We have lived in Tyler for over 20 years.  During that time we have had many animals and tried most of the vets in the area.  We have been coming here for about 2 years.  Above and beyond ALL vets, Shelley Drive Animal Clinic is superior.  All the doctors, staff and the facility exceed expectations each time we visit.  When we need medication, have a visit where test are needed or go for a check up - the experience is off the charts fantastic.  They call to check on your pet and even call to tell you about the results of test.  THEY CARE!  If more businesses showed the care and compasion for their customers, it would be a better community.  Thanks to everyone at the Shelley Drive Animal Clinic.

Beware - please read.

On the phone, I was quoted $45 for their neuter services, but was told I would also have to have my cat's rabies shot.

I brought my can in to be neutered, and the woman told me they can perform complete blood work and a wellness exam. I told her that my cats stayed outside and that my last cat was eaten by foxes, so I was not interested in the extra services.

When I returned the next day to pick up my cat, my bill was over $450. I was told it was because of the wellness exam and blood work. When I stated that I told the woman I did not want that, I was told that they still do it unless I specifically checked to exclude that in their fine print.

When I told them I could not pay it, I was told that they simply hand over all unpaid bills to a collection agency.

I feel like this place regularly scams people like this.

My husband and I had used another veterinary clinic for multiple years and were happy there. But then our English Bulldog got yeasty - more so than normal flares. We tried everything our then vet prescribed but nothing was helping and our girl was miserable. I contacted an EB club looking for an EB specialist and was referred to Dr. Maris at Shelley Drive. 
The staff at Shelley Drive got our girl in ASAP and in a few days the tests came back as her having mast cell cancer. Dr. Maris did surgery to remove the cancer and we decided to move all of our animals over to Shelley Drive. 
Dr. Kathy usually sees our cats, though Dr. Maris has taken care of our cats, too. 
The entire staff at Shelley Drive is pretty amazing and we can’t imagine anyone else taking care of our fur babies.

My dog girl needed an abdominal sonogram of her liver. My vet suspects she has liver cancer.
Shelly Drive animal clinic is an hour drive for us, but was well worth the drive.
Thank you Dr. John Carlson for being so professional, informative and mostly so kind to me and my sweet dog girl. You and your staff’s compassion mean so much!
