Accessible health care services and Dr. Canady is an outstanding Primary Care Physician with an Emergency care background. She is constantly developing support staff to become the people they can be as professional health care providers. Essential Family Care is part of Rockdale County Medical Center. As such you'll have access to their resources and (sadly, but occasionally) their limitations. The photograph I see associated with this location is the recently moved into (Spring 2017) new office space; which is just north, and up the parking lot a bit from the previous Suite. Update, 2 December 2017: Dr Canady, Essential Family Care, and Rockdale Medical Center are now extensions of the Piedmont Medical Group. Centralized billing and resources of the network are expected to help improve outcomes and offer more comprehensive referral & treatment options. Update, 5 December 2017: I can't believe I'm here with this information now. Perhaps you will find it useful going forward. I am Medical Power of Attorney for a dear friend who is in her 70's, has preexisting spinal issues, and had an acute inflammation of her lower spine due to a hard "seating" in her bath tub last week. Her discomfort was so intense Her Chiropractor would not touch her until she had radiography from the Hospital She was in pain enough I took her to the Piedmont Hospital at Rockdale Emergency Room on Friday afternoon. The team there helped her reduce her pain and provided enough medication to help control it until She could see her primary care provider again on Monday. Radiography was read and indicated she may well have a fractured L3 over a bulging disc. She wanted to get referrals from her PCP (Dr. Canady) and Chiropractic specialist. Over the weekend She Her pain had been breaking through as the medication wore off. I called Dr. Canady's practice Monday morning before they left for lunch and asked specific questions including: 1)She needs a continuing prescription for pain medication; can she get a writ from the Dr. without coming in - based upon the Emergency Room's report and Osteopath's read of her CAT scan? 2) Do I need to bring the patient into the office this afternoon as a walk in to get her seen Today? 3) Can I get an answer from the office early enough in the day to ensure my Charge could gain continuity of care that day? To, which the person on the phone said she would be sure to call us right after the Dr. was consulted and right after lunch. By 3:15 in the afternoon no call had been received. I called and was informed: Nothing could be done. I asked, could my charge be seen that afternoon? By this point, my Friend had to use the bath room and the soonest we could get there was 4:15 (the practice does not usually see patients after 4pm). In the interim had been told the Doctor, the only person on staff who had authorization to produce writs for significant pain relief medications had left the office at 3. I asked who was medically in charge. The RN and PA on duty both indicated they were not or not informed about the situation which had grown out of a failure of their work flow system. When I asked who was the Office Manager I was given indication they were not there either. After we arrived we met with the RN, and shortly afterward the PA who both felt their system had worked as intended. They could not imagine there was a reason the patient and Her MPA were upset and disappointed with the lack of concern for a patient who had been in the practice's care for 8 years! The fact they could not comprehend their system had failed a long standing, elderly patient, with dependencies to have medical care from people she knew and trusted left both of us befuddled and me (I felt justifiably) angry. My take: Patients in their Facility take precedence over patients presenting over the phone. Promises for contact in the afternoon REQUIRE effort on the part of the Patient to see completed if there is any time dependency involved. BUYER BEWARE! (sorry folks, I drop my rating to 2 stars or less.)
