The website states the following about this business, "From the very start, Shoe Palace separated itself from the competition by making sales secondary to the customer. SP puts the consumer on a pedestal because they have been so instrumental in making us the huge success we are today. We would not be in our current position without the strength of our supporter's loyalty." My experience today was a total contradiction to this statement. Here's the story: About a month and a few days ago, I bought a pair of Nike Airforce 1 07mid shoes at the Santa Rosa Store for my grandson. He tried them out walking around the store and thought they would work for him. At home, he tried them several times walking around the house but determined that they didn't feel right one of the issues being that they squeak loudly. He never wore them outside but walking around the house trying to make it work and finally realized it wouldn't work for him at all. Now, I am 70 years old, just moved to a new residence and failed to keep my receipts. My daughter called the store and the person she spoke with said they would work with us on an exchange since we didn't have the receipt. I have been noticing that these days when a person buys with a debit card, a receipt is not as important as it used to be since the business can look up the transaction using the the same card the purchase was made with. Be that as it may, we traveled a distance today to work out something with the shoes. The person who served us at the store, Billy, said he is a manager. A little over a month ago, when we made the purchase, he had just started working there so that was interesting. Anyway, he looked at the shoes and because there is a crease where the shoe bends when someone walks in it, he said they couldn't help us. The soles definitely show no outside wear and we noticed that when a shoe form is put in the shoe, as would happen for display, the crease straightened out. Billy insisted that they could not be returned and never even asked for another manager or employee to offer an opinion on the condition of the shoes. If they were obviously damaged, I could understand but this was ridiculous! They are expensive shoes that I know can be resold and even if not, your company would lose much less than the loss it takes when the goodwill of customers is sacrificed. My goodness! I have bought shoes from Keen that after wearing outside and finding that they only hurt, Keen exchanged happily! Believe me, this is the kind of care, service and respect I expect. I have since bought a number of pairs of Keen shoes and will continue with Keen. But, with the shoddy care at this store, I will never buy there again nor will I suggest that anybody frequent this business. I looked up the BBB rating and saw it is an F. This is not a good sign and would have been wise of us to check before shopping at this store.
