We are really happy with our master bathroom remodel. Aaron was friendly and he did a good job keeping our project moving. He listened to our ideas and found ways to make the space what we wanted, on a budget we were comfortable with. The rest of the crew was skilled and conscientious. We highly recommend them.

I was hoping to be able to write this review and give a great recommendation but I can’t. The treatment I received from Sims Exteriors & Remodeling after the job was done was surprising and disappointing. 

I contracted with them to install a shower in my basement laundry room. I have to say the work they did on the actual shower install was good. They gave me a week and a half timeline and they got the job done right on schedule. The shower looks and works well and I appreciate their work on that.
My issue with them is that they moved my old water softener during the install and now it doesn’t work;  and Sims has not taken responsibility. After the install, I noticed the softener was not working so I called my representative, Aaron, who visited my home and said it might be something as simple as the breaker it was hooked up to. After consulting an outside electrician, the issue wasn't the breaker yet the water softener still was not working. Aaron then said he would send out their plumber to look at it. The plumber told Aaron that the softener was old and is not working now. Aaron relayed to me the softener  could not be fixed but offered to have a new one installed by Sims and they would take $50 off the price of the softener.  I explained that I didn’t think that it was right - the softener worked great before they started the work and after they were finished, they reinstalled the softener and now it didn't work.  To me, the softener should have been tested after it was reinstalled to see if it worked properly. When I asked Aaron about this, he forwarded my questions to J.W. Sims, the owner.

J.W. said the best that his company could do is again the $50 off on the new softener and that his  company is being gracious in offering that. I told him that was not acceptable, since the softener worked before they uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I went back and forth with him on emails stating that and his responses back about this situation were amazing to me. The owner of the company chose to make this personal. He said, “we get very tired of people trying to lay blame at our feet without cause.” He also made fun of my softener and the age of the unit. The softener is old, and there is no disputing that, but it worked before the install and didn’t after and no one told me it was broken after it was reinstalled. He said “I do know the plumber was about 8 when it was installed so I am sure that he is not too familiar with that model.” I told him that I just spent $7200 getting this shower installed and that is a lot of money to me so I would expect them to take care of this situation. He then complained about how little his company made on my shower install. He said, “incidentally on a $7200 project, my company clears a net of around $1080.00, barely more than a new softener costs installed.” I would never expect the owner of the company to respond to my emails with these comments (I saved all the emails).

After all this, he offered to visit my house and discuss this matter. How he would think that I would allow him in my home after all this is astonishing! I handled the water softener on my own, not accepting his offer. All I can say is that I would never recommend Sims to anyone. If something goes wrong, you are on your own and there is a chance you will get the same treatment.

Sims performed a complete tear-off and re-roofing job for me, and they were fantastic.  They had been referred to me by another contractor that I trust, and while it wasn't the cheapest estimate I got, I'm glad I went with them - I certainly got my money's worth.  They (Nate and crew) were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating, including scheduling the job quickly to meet my needs.  They encountered a couple of unexpected problems during the job, and in one case took care of it without a hiccup (and were very generous with a price reduction on the additional work), and in the other case gave me great referrals (and another price break) for a more complex problem, and they ultimately coordinated the multi-contractor follow-up work for that problem (wonderfully).  The roof is really beautiful, and I have the satisfaction of knowing that the job was well done (no surprises or shortcuts).  They were done on time and cleaned up everything, and the only sign of their presence afterward was the beautiful roof.  And, when we sell the house, the 10-year transferable warranty on their work (plus the 50-year warranty on the shingles) will be a great selling point.  I recommend Sims very highly.

We hired Sims remodeling to redo our bathroom. They came when they said they would. It was finished ahead of schedule.  It turned out better then my husband and I expected. The workmanship was outstanding. I would definitely hire them again!!

We had new shilgles put on our roof by Sims Roofing.   Nick came out and walked us through all the steps that would be taken and reviewed everything with us.  When the roofers came, they did the entire job in two days.  There was a crew of about 6 guys and they worked hard and did an awesome job.  They cleaned up as they went and at the end of each work day as well.  This included walking around picking up any thing they had missed earlier, cleaning out the bushes and trees with a leaf blower and sweeping all hard surfaces.
While working they were extremely careful to move or cover any items that may be damaged by falling shingles while they were removing the old roof.  They put flashing where needed, replaced wood where necessary, did all the things you would expect good roofers to do.  They worked well together, they all seemed to know what to do and how to do it.
We will recommend this company to everyone!
