Story

X2 is a steel roller coaster operating at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. It is the world's first 4th Dimension roller coaster and was the final roller coaster conceived and installed by ride manufacturer Arrow Dynamics. The ride is unique in that the trains' seats pitch 360 degrees forwards and in reverse independent of the main chassis. The coaster initially opened to the public on January 12, 2002; numerous malfunctions delayed it from debuting in 2001 as was originally anticipated. On December 2, 2007, the ride closed for its transformation into X2. It was completely repainted, received new third generation vehicles, and featured new special effects including a sound system and a pair of flame throwers. The ride reopened on May 24, 2008, following the upgrades.DescriptionX2 is a unique prototype design in which the seats can rotate forward or backward 360 degrees in a controlled spin. This is achieved by having four rails on the track. Two of these are running rails while the other two are for spin control. The two rails that control the spin of the seats move up and down relative to the main track and spin the seats using a rack and pinion gear mechanism. The ride also has an on-board audio soundtrack.X2's lift-hill climbs 175 feet (53 m) into the sky with the ride's tallest point above ground at 190 feet (58 m). During this lift, riders are facing backwards. The first drop is 215 feet (65.5 m) and is sloped at 88.8 degrees, causing the train to reach a maximum speed of 76 mph (122 km/h) (faster than X, at about 70 mph). The 3,610-foot (1100 m) long layout features two inversions including a skydive, two "raven turns", one back flip, and a twisting front flip.

Magic Mountain is the best value amusement park in Southern California. The season pass is great for anyone who lives within an hour drive. Coupled with a parking pass and a dining pass, you have a fully paid weekend vacation for the family for a whole year. 2018 saw the return to a 365 day opening schedule, but the hours are horrible. 6 PM closing on weekdays! Weekends remain at 9 PM. The rides are on the intense side, but there is a kiddie park for the young ones. Food is your average park fare, and nothing special. Employees can be wonderful or surly, depending on your luck. They are teenagers, after all. I have been coming here since the 90's. The quality of the park has improved a lot since then. Definitely a family friendly place.

Went on a Wednesday and was very empty. Recommend for kids and adults. Was able to get on a lot of rides. Definitely recommend visiting during the week. Food inside the park is quite pricey. Lots of walking, come with comfortable shoes. Parking is a distance from the entrance. Overall good place to spend the day. Bought year passes, plan on coming back several times.

I was there in 2007. What I recall, the rides & roller coaster had more “oomph” factor than any parks in CA, thrills especially. Parking lots was $20, but better to have large parking lots. Food & beverage was decently priced, but was solid. My sister went there in 2014, she told me that Six Flags Magic Mountain is incredibly the best park than any parks in CA. Therefore, both of us clearly prefer Six Flags Magic Mountain with their great reception! Quality is superior than quantity.

If you're a roller coaster enthusiast, this is the park for you.19 roller coasters occupy this beautiful piece of real estate (note - not all of them may be operating, a couple might be down). There's a wide variety of coasters to ride. Personally my favorite is the Twisted Colossus which is a modified form of the original Colossus and offers you an exciting ride. The layout is attractive. Pick your dates carefully as some days will see shorter lines than other days.

Great theme park. Mostly based on thrill rides and not so much on themes as they know they can't compete with the other guys. Attendance was minimal at the time of our visit with no wait time. Service was great, employees were helpful when needed. Some of the rides are on the extreme side in my opinion but lots of fun. We'll worth it.
