Story

Many of us know and love Skipper’s Greek Cafe as the best breakfast in the Clear Lake area but how many of you have sampled Terry Psarovarkas’ authentic Greek delicacies? Each week Terry hand prepares Greek Leg of Lamb, Lamb Shanks, Pastitsio and Mousaka using old family recipes handed down by word of mouth through the generations and perfected under the watchful eye of Terry’s Mother. John mixes his fabulous Greek Salad Dressing weekly and over the years has been asked so many times for a “cup of dressing” by customers that he now bottles it and makes it available at the counter. Friday and Saturdays at Skipper’s is “Greek Day” when Terry proudly presents her Lamb delicacies along with Friday night entertainment.

The family atmosphere of Skipper’s is most enjoyable and almost immediately you will feel like part of the family. John and Terry’s children have been kept close to the business, so you will no doubt see the family dining often along with the Skipper’s three grandchildren. Peter worked at Skipper’s for several years to help put himself through college and Kimon now is as familiar a face as John’s.

Hurricane Ike almost wiped Skipper’s from the map. But through determination and very hard work John and Kimon completely renovated the building and brought a new face to Skipper’s for your enjoyment.
