We have been searching for whole Branzino and came here because their restaurant week menu said whole or butterflied Branzino. When we arrived the place looked very classy with outdoor seating available. We had reservations so seated right away by a very pleasant friendly lady. We sat maybe 15 minutes before the waitress showed up. She told us she was the only waitress working the whole restaurant and apologized. She took our order and explained to us they have only been open a week, so they only have the one menu, the restaurant week menu. No sides no extras, yet they had oysters which were not on the "only menu". She also said the Branzino only came butterflied even though on the "only menu" it clearly said whole or butterflied. She said she would ask the chef. When she returned with the butterflied Branzino she said if we wanted she would go "make him" make another whole. So why didn't she "make him" make it the first time??? We saw others get sides, when we asked for a side with Branzino because it comes with nothing she said their are no sides. She eventually brought asparagus And brussel sprouts. As I sat and read reviews they were from a few weeks ago yet she stated they just opened a week ago. As we walked out we noticed alot of dishes on tables that were not on the "only menu". The Branzino was too wild fishy tasting don't get it from here. The Burrata was good and oysters decent. The only reason I gave three stars because the waitress did not charge for the three drinks we had and the hostess was super nice. It looks great on inside but I wouldnt even waste your time unless they get better trained staff who aim to please.
I came here on a Friday night with a large party. We all participated in the restaurant week menu. The food came out in a timely manner. My grilled octopus and branzino came out wonderful! Others got tuna tartare and lobster pasta and they were all satisfied with their food. The owner and the team were all very friendly and hospitable. They recommended wines that would pair well with our food. 11/10 would come back to try other items on their menu. Beautiful restaurant too!
I’ll start by saying, the food was amazing. Tuna, octopus, and Greek salad were amazing plus a complimentary dessert. However, the service was hugely lacking. By the end of the night we felt forgotten, had to ask twice for our check after waiting 15+ minutes for a server to come by after dessert. Was great food but felt like we were constantly waiting to be served.
If it weren’t for the nice interior, I would give 0 stars. Reasons I would not go back: 1. Service is abnormal 2. Dishes are over salted 3. Water was extremely dirty 4. There was a photoshoot going on during our dinner. The flashes were distracting not only to us but the others in the restaurant. Our server was the person at the door who seemed to be the manager. He tried to order our dishes by his own means. I thought he was just suggesting at first or on the house, but he was only trying to take advantage of the fact the we were using a Pulsd deal to give us “samples of everything.” Not to mention he did not even give me a wine selection to choose from and just asked white or red. The wine was disappointing and did not pair with what we ate to say the least. Turns out he gave us a mediocre $15 bottle of wine. The water. Repulsive. There was ONE other waiter that seemed to be running the show. I asked him if they put anything in the water. He said it’s TAP WATER. Tell me why tap water looks like that. Please see the picture. It is not the glass. There are things floating in the water. The appetizers calamari, shrimp we had were okay. The entrees lobster pasta, ribeye w side were over salted. The manager/server did not even ask what we want as sides for the ribeye. The ribeye was SO TOUGH and BURNT I had to spit it out. The pasta was too greasy and salty to my liking. I did not finish it. The manager asked how our food was while I taking the first bite. The manager/server automatically put 20% gratuity for himself on our bill and handed it to us to pay even though the service… was trash! Scorpios, please contact your local plumber and take time to wash your glasses.
Beautiful bring interior, great service and staff! Food is great too! I had the chance to try the chicken which was pretty good! I only wish they used organic chicken and more farm to table items!
This is one of my fav spots in Midtown East! The food is incredible. This time I got burger and the meat was sophisticated, soft, and juicy. And place itself is clean, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming!
Let me start by saying the staff was fantastic! Very friendly! We had the, I assume, manager or owner of the restaurant serving us and he was very personable. My girlfriend and I were visiting NYC and it was our last night in the city so we wanted to go to a nice place for dinner. The reviews seemed fantastic so we were really excited! We had made reservations for a Friday night. When we arrived there was some sort of event happening with a DJ, loud speakers and people dancing like it was a club not a restaurant. Not sure if this place does this on a regular basis or if it was a special event of some kind. We decided it was fine and stayed to order. The food was very sub par on our visit. We had ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer and each got lobster as our main dish. The lobster was really disappointing, it wasn't fresh by any means and tasted like dirty water. I couldn't even bare to finish it. I had gotten the lemon potatoes as a side which were way too heavy on the lemon and the potatoes were not fully cooked and hard to bite into. Again a very unfortunate experience that most didn't seem to have so take this with a grain of salt. It very well have been because of the event taking place that things weren't up to their usual standards.
Culinary delight. I met a friend for lunch. The cuisine was unique, each dish was beautifully arranged and tasted as good as it looked. The seafood was prepared to perfection. I had a squid ink pasta that was packed with lump crab meat, it was delectable. Service was impeccable and the manager was so attentive. I was supposed to meet a client for dinner at another location and asked them to join me at Skorpios instead. I will be visiting this gem again.
The food here is INCREDIBLE. The tzatzki is some of the freshest I've ever had paired with tomatoes and cucumbers and the feta was so tasty. We also had octopus and it was the perfect meal before the theater which was a quick 12-15 minute walk. The staff is quite knowledgeable on their wine list which was great too. I had a glass of white and a glass of red recommended by their GM who was so friendly. We cannot wait to come back!!
Great place with delicious food and super friendly people! Tuna pasta and tar tar -
