Unfortunately I didn’t have a good visit. The Dr in the ER was far too quick to offer me pain medicine and send me on the way with out looking into my complaint. Very alarming to me. The ER I was in was very dirty! The floor and bathroom was disgusting! No one had mopped that floor in who knows how long! The light above my bed was filthy! Had it ever been wiped down? I couldn’t believe how nasty the rooms and halls were. Everyone I met was very friendly but that’s all I can say that’s positive.

I was shuffled in and shuffled out because they did not want to handle my serious condition. When told that I was being discharged I demanded to see another doctor. I was refused and when I protested saying that they had violated my HIPAA laws rights I was laughed at by numerous people. The doctor chastised me for being disabled and told me that I just "gave up". I was on the bedpan for 45 minutes. I will never come back!

When I attempted to sign out of the hospital due to what I felt was dangerous and substandard care, I was held against my will. Two security guards used excessive force to control me. One security guard jumped up and down on my neck and jaw trying to break my neck. I am an elderly happicapped female without family. Never be alone in this hospital. Not one minute. For the whole story read my facebook page garfie calaluca. 2/18 Update. The excessive force attack I underwent at SAMC resulted in the following injuries. 1. 80% loss of vision in my left eye and a subsequent driving restriction to day only. 2. Urinary incontinence from an exacerbation of an old but long resolved low back injury. Now have herniated disc into spinal nerve roots resulting in radiculopathy and the urinary problems, 3. Post Tramatic Stress Syndrome. I was an out going active volunteer in my community and loved church work. I have been to church once in a year because I am afraid to be around groups of people. I am scared to death of strangers particular more than 3 at a time. I seldom leave my bedroom, keeping door lock most of time. I can't ride in a car and I have to sedate myself to go to Dothan for any reason. 4. I had NO NECK PROBLEMS BEFORE ATTACK. Now I have a herniated cervical disc 3-4 & 4-5 enchroching 60% into the spinal cord. I have upper extremity weakness, no balance, severe vertigo, faint if I put my head back and can't do any over head work or go up on my roof. I am medically not allow to go to the hair dressers. I will be having disc surgery on my neck in the next month. That will be followed by low back surgery 12 weeks later. SAMC denies this attack ever happened! All this is the result of my one day inpatient stay at SAMC. I GET TO PAY FOR ALL THIS. I haven't worked in ten months. Medication costs have sky rocketed.I am on a fix income.I now forego groceries for medications. The surgeries I must have have significant risks to them for a younger healthy person. I am 66 yo and not in the best of health. I have 3-4 strange illnesses. All can effect each other . I prayer the fix to this attack doesn't kill me. STAY OUT OF THIS HOSPITAL, especially SENIOR patients who are alone..

I had a surgical procedure at SAMC last November. My experience was excellent from beginning to end. Prior to being taken to surgery holding, the staff made sure to keep me updated. The staff in surgery holding took excellent care of me and continued to keep me updated. The OR staff was so gracious, kind and understanding. I had to stay overnight and my experience on the floor was amazing. The nurses and aides were very thorough and attentive.

The emergency room here has no sense of urgency. Came in at 1030 and was here until 230 for just a cat scan. This is the worse Emergency room experience ever. Traci, the nurse was the only reason for the 3 stars. Great attitude....
