This place is amazing! I've been to a few of the most popular hot chicken spots in Nashville (the home of hot chicken) and Southern has them all beat! The chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside with a very tender interior; it's incredibly flavorful, and they offer different levels of heat as well as a general tso's rub that I'd highly recommend trying. The side dishes are quite simple, but executed perfectly, with amazing flavors that mesh well with the chicken. Service here is quite fast. Do yourself a favor and give Southern a try if you're anywhere near!

Had take-out from Southern last night. Everything was delicious! BEWARE - when you order the buttermilk biscuit, it is the size of a brick! I had to eat it for breakfast because the portion sizes of everything are HUGE! Our order turned out to be dinner, breakfast, and lunch! We had the hot three piece meal and the hot chicken tenders - both came with two sides. The mac n cheese is perfect - I am not a fan of processed cheeses and this did not have that taste. So many restaurants take the easy way out... This was creamy and delicious! The mashed potatoes were fabulous as well! The process was smooth and the service was quick and courteous. Check it out if you haven’t already!

Best hot chicken I've had outside of Nashville. Don't underestimate the heat. We got mild and medium. Medium was the perfect amount of heat. Greens were just ok. Don't pass up the Mac n cheese. Creamy with a nice crisp crust. 10/10 will be going back.

Now *that* is good chicken! I've had equally good buttermilk fried chicken a few times in life, but I've never had hot chicken this good. We got ours medium, which was plenty hot. I could go on about this chicken for ages, but you should just get yourself some... From the breast to the wrong, each piece was perfectly cooked and juicy. The service was friendly and exceptionally good overall. We also got a biscuit, which was okay though we didn't care for the jam stuff. For our sides we had greens (great flavor, but lots of stems - lazy collared prep) and mac and cheese (better than average, slightly different from what you'd expect from typical baked mac and cheese) Overall, you should absolutely go here, get chicken, and learn that you've never even known what you were missing.

I don't know when or if I've ever had better fried chicken than what I experienced at Southern this week. We're talking perfectly cooked chicken with a crispy coating seasoned to perfection that left me wishing I had ordered more. Getting to Southern was a little confusing as a first-timer. When parking in the back lot, you have to walk through the line for Pappy's to get to the entrance. Let me tell you, after seeing that line I was terrified that I was in for a long wait. Luckily, the wait at Southern was quick, and the service was friendly. We were handed menus on entry and the ordering process was explained. We we went with the chicken biscuit sandwich and several individual pieces with mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. The chicken was perfect and the mashed potatoes reminded me of the classic sides that we used to have as kids. The biscuit was really difficult to eat, and essentially fell apart immediately. However, the flavor was perfect. We can't wait to come back to try the different seasoning levels and more of the sides and appetizers!
