The vegan calzone was fantastic! The service for a Saturday night was super speedy, despite having an estimated time of 60-65 minutes, I actually was able to pick up after 40. The vegan calzone was really good and the ricotta was great! Definitely will be back to try to seitan cheesesteak!Dine in: NoOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
Spak Brothers has THE BEST pickle pizza in all of Pittsburgh. When you order it, make sure to order the vegan ranch to dip your slices in - 20/10. My friends and I like to order a Spak pickle pizza if we're grabbing a drink at Two Frays, so that we can sit and eat and drink. The perfect combination!
This is an extremely popular pizzeria, especially for vegans. And it's very easy to see why: they have tons of vegan options, from vegan pizza and calzones to even wings and sandwiches. If you are a vegan, then this place should be a must-stop you at least have to give it a try. But, I ordered a non-vegan option: the regular extra cheese calzone. First, I must make a note of the portion. This was most likely the smallest calzone I have ever bought. And, it wasn't even a 'small' size listed under their site. There is only one size for the calzones as far as I know. To add to this, it was on the slightly more expensive side at $14 dollars, which is a bit more than the calzone at Bellisarios which is absolutely huge at least twice the size of this calzone. In terms of flavor, it was pretty good. There is definitely an adequate amount of cheese in there, both mozzarella and ricotta. The dough is made and folded in a way that reminds me a bit of empanadas just look at the creases but it's certainly good. No sauce on the inside, only in the side to keep it from getting soggy. Although, it was somewhat oily. There is a little puddle of butter forming in the middle when I picked it up. The sauce was quite good, but surprisingly a bit spicy. It was definitely a nice change from the average sauce and had little tomato chunks, but for some it won't be a pleasant surprise. Another note is that they do not have a cell phone and do not open for lunch. Definitely a small place on the inside but cool theming. So, do plan accordingly if you want to visit Spak. All in all, this place makes some pretty good calzones. They are quite expensive for their size, though. I'd say it's overpriced and not worth coming back unless you are vegan. If you are vegan, this may be one of your go-to spots, given there are limited amounts of places offering vegan options.
I went vegan with this pick, and I’m very happy about it! Delicious wings, the cheesesteak was good too! Will be back soon. Vegan ranch not pictured, because it was so good.
Long wait times are absolutely worth it at this place, plan accordingly! We sat at Two Frays brewing next door enjoying beer while we waited. Delicious vegan options, including the cheese bread!!!
I’ve eaten at Spak Bros more times than I can count now and it is incredible every.single.time.. The vegan food is some of the best I have ever had. The seitan cheesesteaks, salad, wings, vegan pizza and calzones are insanely delicious, flavorful, and are very large, filling portions. My food is always ready so fast and the staff is very friendly!! 1000% recommend Spak Bros to everyone I know!!!
Wonderful Vegan Options! Spak is my go to when I want to eat Vegan Pizza, Hoagies , and wings. Make sure you get extra Vegan Ranch especially if you're a lover of Dill
I think this is my favorite place in Pittsburgh to order food from. HUGE selection of fantastic offerings -- all delicious and reasonably priced. Excellent vegetarian options. Great staff. The pickle pizza is so good I eat it every Friday with a side of seitan wings. Mouthwatering.
Really wanted to like it here but there a few obvious problems. First off the wait is ridiculously long. Usually order for 1 and it’s over an hour for a small personal pizza. Additionally, the staff is incredibly rude and they create an unfriendly environment. Recently I order ONE small pizza and 10 wings and received a text that the server was having issues so I went to the door after about an hour in case as I had not received a text. the woman was extremely rude and said not to come to door until I got a text and I would definitely get one. I waited 30 more minutes and still hadn’t received one so went to door again. My order had been sitting there for who knows how long. No apology, no acknowledgement. Not the first time I’ve had these issues. Done coming here. Better off with some store bought in terms of taste as well.
Amazing for vegans! I got their seitan wings with bbq sauce and vegan ranch and a calzone with vegan cheese, mushrooms, and onions. Would definitely recommend
