 This is a first come first serve, 13-14 site primitive campground.  Elaine was the camp host. She was Very knowledgeable and super nice. She keeps the grounds very nice, and the bathrooms very clean. During our stay all the campers seemed quite friendly and respectable and respected the 10:00p.m. quiet time. We had plenty of wild life all around and we were able to see dear, elk, racoon, squirrel, chipmunk and coyotes. Sites closest to the road seem a bit noisy when trucks went through and that varied greatly. Some of the sites have uneven ground so can be difficult if in a camper. Only small campers as some sites parking area is quite small. I cannot wait for next season!

In our experience the best National forest camp ground near Rampart Range Reservoir.   Larger, more spread out private sites than Meadow and Thunder.  Surrounded by tall majestic Ponderosa and other shaded trees. The farther from the main road, less traffic noise.

Nice.
Quiet.
Small campground.
Some unleveled and tight spots. 
Good for tent camping. RV camping is good if you're lucky to get one of the more spacious and leveled spots.
Saw Deer.
No cell service.

Getting there-The roads are decently paved. Some rough patches. Some sharp and narrow curves. 

$16 a night.
