I would like to commend the election workers at South Middle School in Wentzville. Their swift and accurate handling of disability curbside voting was great to observe. Choices and information for voting from home was also provided. As a disability advocate I was so pleased to see such seamless voting, the way it should be!!!! Hats off!

I am curious about the handling of voters registration I.D. Cards. When I voted in the Presidential Primary Election, I accidentally got in line at the wrong precinct (which was upstairs in the same location). I handed them my card and they scanned it and then told me I needed to go downstairs. I noticed they were asking others if they wanted their I.D. cards back or destroyed. They were tearing them which seemed good enough to me. I then went to the correct precinct downstairs where I was checked in and selected my ballot. I asked them to please shred my card.....they placed it in a mesh bag that they had hung behind them and it was completely full. They didn't tear it at all but left it perfectly in tact. I questioned the judge about why they weren't shredding it as I requested. She informed me that someone would come at a later time and pick up the back and then take the cards to be shredded. I still keep wondering about this as I was not asked for another form of I.D. in order to cast my vote and my and thousands of others cards were still there in tact.
