I had the best hospital experience ever with St. David's surgical hospital! From the moment I stepped into the hospital my experience was met with kind, compassionate, efficient care. Each staff member that I encountered was kind, attentive and professional. The rooms look like a 5 star hotel and the food is prepared by a chef! I loved their strawberry spinach salad with grilled chicken. If I ever need another surgery I am insisting that I have it there! St. David's Surgical Hospital, is the best hospital in Austin!

I just had surgery at this Surgical Center and it was amazing. The facility was nice and modern, and the doctors and staff were very qualified, friendly and efficient. Our surgery was at 9 am and they had everything prepared. They sent my husband messages when I went into surgery, was in recovery, and when I arrived at my room. The rooms were large and modern, and the nurses were top rate and always there when you need them. The head nurse asked for feedback and they followed up with me a day after my release. I've had 4 surgeries at different facilities and St. David's Surgical Center Round Rock has been the best of all of them. I hope you don't need surgery, but if you do, pick this surgery center. They are fantastic!

Very professional and friendly staff. I don't like hospitals but the overall aesthetic of the facility and staff made me comfortable.

No private rooms, restrooms or TVs in the pre or post op areas. They just have ER - type bays with curtains sperating the rooms and a bathroom shared by the whole floor. You can hear everything going in other rooms and everyone's alarms beeping. It makes it difficult to talk to your doctors or nurses privately. Hopefully your surgery isn't of a personal nature. At the North Austin location, their pre and post op area has actual rooms with doors where you have your own TV and bathroom. Instead in Round Rock I had to wonder the surgical floor in my giant paper gown several times to go to the bathroom shared by everyone. In socks. Eeeww. My family said the waiting room in Round Rock was "alright but there was no coffee or water or anything to drink." They liked North Austin better because they could stay in my room while I was in surgery to have some privacy and they also had free drinks available in a lounge to take back to room. I've had 6 surgeries in 4 years so I may just be more picky than some since I have to spend so much time in hospitals. If you are easily impressed by ridiculously fancy doors on the registration rooms or high ceilings in the lobby than you might like this place. If you prefer private space and comfort in the actual patient areas to fancy decor in the waiting room, you might want to stick to the North Austin location if possible.

With the exception of recovery, my stay was 5 stars! My excellent experience began with the adorable phlebotomist at pre op. She was very kind and didn't make me feel silly for needing a little extra tlc when it comes to needles. She even made sure my nurse, the following day, knew of my fear and gave her pointers in how to work with me. While waiting for surgery the staff was amazing. Communication could not have been clearer. Sara was my nurse- she made me feel very at ease while waiting for my turn. My stay in the room was fabulous. Merlyn is probably the best nurse I have ever encountered, ever. She was calm and sweet and reassuring. I'm so grateful she was there for me overnight. Nobody made me feel bad for using the call button. Even the food is amazing! The guy that took out my IV and wheeled me to the car- Aric- was super friendly. Great personality. 99% of the people I encountered were genuinely happy to be there and concerned about my comfort and care. My negative experience- that brought my rating down 2 stars- was the post op recovery nurse. From the very second I woke up and started coming to, I could hear her in the phone talking about how I was the last patient and she was going to get me outta there. She asked me if I hurt and I said yes. Her response was that she needed to get me upstairs bc she couldn't give me anything for the pain. Then she asked if I was thirsty. I said yes. So she put a cup of ice water in my hand and told me to hang onto it- despite not being able to open my eyes. She was banging and slamming things around and again on the phone discussing how she was almost done bc I was the last patient of the day. I was in post op recovery for 30-45 min despite my doc saying I would be there for 2 hours. She had the demeanor of a mad cow while I was in her care. I could hear and sorta see her running from place to place. I don't know who she was talking to but she was on the phone quite a bit discussing me being the last patient. She was more concerned about her closing duties than my comfort. And She smacked her gum the whole time!! Otherwise- 5 star service and treatment.
