If you enjoy having to get a new password via postal mail, relying solely on fax to complete banking forms with sensitive data, interacting with a website that is non-functional and terribly designed, and not having the option to get statements online than this is the bank for you. If you want to stay in the 21st century there are plenty of other banks out there. Also, when was the last time you needed to provide a phone utility bill to change your phone number? Well at SBI Chicago efficient processes like this await you!

SBI Chicago offers great interest rates, however their business acumen needs a huge improvement (at least by American standards). The primary issue I have is that they appear to be in the US solely for the Indian expat community, yet they allow anyone to open an account... With that in mind, they are ill prepared for the US banking market, which expects prompt service, high tech features such as a mobile app and fluent English language proficiency from the bank's representatives. I spoke to one of their representatives over the phone when inquiring about one of their accounts. She was polite, but had a very thick accent which made it quite difficult to understand her. Plus she lacked any enthusiasm and seemed completely indifferent to whether she attained my business or not. I then contacted SBI via their website and their provided emails too, and have yet to receive a response... Banks should be responding to inquires within 24hrs or less. It would worry me that my money would be with such a lackadaisical institution. I'm honestly surprised that they are still in business here in the US, their growth here must be near zero percent.

This bank is not professional at all like other banks in US, they never answers the calls, if you do wire transfer to them they gonna charge saying its not ACH transfer, who will know from what bank its ACH or not, even if they get the wire they will not credit it to your account unless you ask them, ever after calling and talking to Manager, she will say she received funds and credit to your account, you will not see it, if you call one more time, they gonna say supervisor is on lunch and when the supervisor is back he will credit your funds, we have to beg them for our own funds, very unprofessional staff and don't know what they are doing. they are still doing work like in olden days, will not suggest this and its waste of time and funds that they are holding even after they get it, will close the account with them and better with BOFA or wells fargo that they have international transfers.

Worst customer service.

I agree with previous comments that this is another typical Indian Government office culture. Staff definitely need to go through trainings on Customer Service. Surprisingly, their CD rates are highest in US.
