If you can't decide what kind of sushi you want, come to Sugarfish because their menu is straightforward. You can select from their Prix Fix menu: Trust Me, The Nozawa Trust Me, Trust Me Lite or Don't Think, just Eat, Trust Me. It was lunch time. The parking lot was packed and the restaurant LOUD and crowded at 1pm. It was difficult to have a conversation across the table. This is why I'm giving only 4 stars. Sushi and food: 5 star and beyond! Melt in your mouth sushi. If you do park in the lot, first 90 minutes are free with validation. There is a back parking too. We left around 2pm and there were plenty of tables and it was not as noisy loud. So if you arrive off hours, I would recommend it. Lunch is served until 3:30pm, then it's Dinner service. Parking: First 90 minutes free with validation. Entrance from San Vicente Blvd. There is a back lot too.
Their standard tasting menu was quite good, with high quality of nori and fresh fish. If they offered more options of the fish would be awesome. The only reason I took 1 star off was because all the nigiri was not hand-formed tightly enough. The rice was really easy to fall while eating. If I have other options, I probably will not come back again.
To be honest, I wasn't a fan of Sugarfish prior to today. All of my friends who had tried Sugarfish told me that it was either great or way too overhyped and overpriced, and because of that, I had avoided visiting any of their locations. However, my girlfriend and I decided to go for her birthday and we were very impressed by all of the food. We both got the Nozawa Trust Me and we were absolutely STUFFED by the end of our meal. All of the fish tasted fresh and the rice was warm. While the meal was $45/ person, I'd say the it is definitely a bargain considering that the quality of the fish is above average and that we left way more full than we intended to. For two people, I would recommend just getting the Trust Me and the Nozawa Trust Me. The parking lot isn't that big, but you should be able to get a spot if you just wait about 5 minutes, and while you wait, someone else in your party can put their name down since the wait to get a table will probably be about an hour. All in all, I would definitely come back.
Great food. Probably some of the best selection of sushi . I honestly didn't know sushi could be so different in taste until eating there. The seating was crowded and it is somewhat pricey. The ratio of fish to rice is bigger piece to smaller rice sample. Parking: You can park in the back in a paid parking lot. Free parking is limited.
Always on point. Haven’t been in a while and pleasantly surprised to find this “Limited Availability” menu. I though I’d have to wait an hour for two people but they sat us within 20 minutes. No frills best sushi and bang for your buck.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of sushi available in the sushi box. The sushi rolls were really good and the sashimi tasted fresh. The edamame that came with the order could use more seasoning, but I was really happy to see all the condiments that came with the box. Overall, I would recommend visiting SUGARFISH, you won't regret it.
We had a great dinner experience here. It’s a small intimate setting - just one room with tables tightly packed around the perimeter. We arrived at 6 pm on a Monday night and got a seat quickly but in the next 15 minutes, every table was full. For a Japanese restaurant, it’s almost like fast food. If you order the omakase which is Japanese for basically “chef’s choice, which the entire menu is really pointing you to order, then the dishes come out sequentially and quickly. Every single item was done with extreme precision and care. This is high end Japanese like you would get in Japan. Nothing was out of place. The rice sushi is perfect flavored and not tightly packed or overwhelming the fish like you get in a lot of fake Japanese restaurants. Definitely an amazing deal for the $40 or $50 you pay per person. Oh, no tipping here but they do tack on 16% to the final bill.
I've had quite a bit of sushi throughout my life, but nothing compares to Sugarfish. Literally. The way they do the rice here is godly.
Everything was good. The sushi is high quality and really good. Is a very traditional sushi place, do not expect other type of sauce beside soy sauce. I love spice ponzu sauce with my sushi, so if you like something different than soy sauce, this is not the place to dine. The restaurant is small but cozy.Food: 5/5
Can’t wait to come back! I’ve eaten at the DT LA location and it was so exquisite that I had to try this location. It totally lived up to the name and will be back soon!Recommended dishesDon't Think Just Eat
