Beautiful and intimate. We were so lucky to have been recommended Sushi Miyagi by friends. Absolutely blown away by the creativity and detail without taking away from the high quality ingredients.
I live in DC and I honestly think it’s better than the Michelin star omakase I often visit: The couple who run the restaurant were super nice, we had such a good experience on Christmas Eve with our friend.
Excellent Omakase. Itamae switches between Shirozu white and Akazu red vinegared rice depending on fish. Highlights were the appetizers, aged maguro very tender!, San Diego uni and A5 wagyu. Garnishes accentuate not overwhelm natural taste of neta topping.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
I think the food is reasonablely OKAY. There are only 6 seats on the bar. However, the bar is only a few feet from the restaurant. So if any of these 6 guests goes to the restaurant, you can literally smell whatever he or she let out. OMG...... PUKING>>>> If you are looking for a real experience for the price they charge, DO NOT go to this restaurant. The service is the worse I have had in any omakase only restaurant. AVOID.
The most amazing sushi spot in LA. Best hidden gem for authentic and unique Japanese sushi. Relaxing atmosphere with great music. Fantastic selection of sake.
Super authentic experience with a very hospitable staff. Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the States.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
Quite possibly one of the best Omakase. The restaurant is owned and operated by a lovely couple and the food there is beyond excellent.Food: 5/5
Brought my friend visiting from Japan here, hope to impress her with authentic Japanese food in Los Angeles. The food is not bad across all the omakase I’ve had. But the service is terrible and it honestly didn’t end up a good experience. We spent money but we weren’t happy. The server made me feel unwelcomed. We were 7 minutes late because it’s really hard to find parking. She immediately said “you’ll need to have dessert in another table because you’re late” I don’t like being condemned being late directly, and 7 minutes isn’t terribly late considering the culture here. She took away my friend’s napkin though my friend hasn’t finished using it. But she also rejects bringing my friend another one because “there’ll be napkin later with sushi courses”. But what about now? We found hair in the sashimi dish as soon as it was served to us. We haven’t touched it The chef simply removed the hair and returned the dish to us. Not saying it’s unacceptable, but it’s not the luxury omakase experience we were expecting, why not prepare a new dish? We also felt discriminated by the chef. There were only 2 parties in total. The chef never faced my party when introducing the dishes. When we didn’t immediately leave after paying the bill, the server asked us to leave and said “as I told you, …., you need to leave.” I really don’t appreciate this attitude and push. Well, we were charged 20% service fee. But later on we didn’t see anywhere saying something like “20% service fee will be included in your bill”. 10/10 don’t recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing, luxury omakase experience. When you’re paying this much, with this much service fee, I’d expect a full pleasant experience.
Sushi Miyagi is the best sushi I’ve experienced! The owners are wonderful people and the food is top notch! Also, the wine list is excellent. If you are in LA, it’s a must!
MIYAGI’s food was alright, I would say it’s good and reasonable priced in LA, but average taste compares to the restaurants in Japan. However, the service was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in any restaurants. First of all, it is our fault that we arrived 7 mins later than our reservation timeI because we struggled about 20 mins to find a parking spot. However, we were never told that the whole course is strictly served in one hour, and we have to leave in one hour. So when we arrived, we got told that we only have one hour for the table and we have to go right after the time. Up to this time it was alright, but then during the whole course, we basically got ignored by the chef, almost every introduction of the meal he only talked to the other table beside us. I used the wet tissue once before the meal, and after I squeeze the lemon I found out that my wet tissue got taken away. I asked the waitress to give me another wet tissue, but she hesitated and told me she would give me a new one when the sushi is served, despite the fact that my hands are wet because of the lemon. FYI, In all restaurants in Japan, the wet tissues suppose to be on the table all the time Then, there was hair on one of the sashimi dish, and after I told the chef, he simply just took the hair away in front of me and told me it was okay. I was simply shocked. After all the experiences, we found out that they put a 20% tip on the bill for us 60 bucks plus tips. After We paid that fat tip, the waitress came to us and said that we only got the seat for one hour so we have to get out instantly. So basically we got kicked out. I wonder if we got treated differently because we speak Chinese. As far as I know, the chef treated the table next to us very well because they are white. And this annoyed me probably the most. It is the first and worst experience I’ve had, especially I just flew to LA from Japan few days ago. I truly won’t recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re Asian :
