Not bad at all. Sunrise might have a dark history, but it is improved now. I lived in Sunrise Apartments from 2017 to January 2018 and I did not experienced any major issue. The new manager is helpful and friendly. The laundry room is new and the pool is a nice place to cool off. I did not find cheaper 1bd/ba apartments in Gainesville then Sunrise. The location is great for UF students or so, there are many buses during the day and the later gator B at night. Regarding security, I never felt unsafe or heard of any safety problem during my stay. It is worthy it to check the place.

This place definitely bad choice to take. Once, there was a water leak in my neighbor's apartment, they enter my apartment and made a madness chaos without calling me, they said: you have to leave out for 3 days. They didn't say sorry for that. Also, if your neighbor is bad neighbor, this is your problem, and there are many bad neighbors in this complex.

I have only lived here a year and I have to say that this place terrible! I am disappointed in the security of the property despite a cop living on the premises. I am also disappointed in the poor upkeep of these apartments. And if you're someone who requires sleep during morning/early afternoon hours, I guarantee you'll be woken up from the constant noise during those times. Concerning the security, my scooter was stolen while it was parked just outside of my apartment. There were a couple of people smoking weed in the laundry room at night as well as some crazy lady that came knocking on my door in the middle of the night asking for money. It's plain and simple: there's no sense of security while living here. The upkeep was a major concern. Several of the outlets didn't work and the cabinets showed signs of water damage; both were brought to their attention and they didn't seem to want to do anything about it. The worst feature of all is the dreaded wall a/c unit that requires you to run it ALL the time in order to feel somewhat comfortable in your own apartment. And it is such an old unit that it will cause your electric bill to be well above $200 a month, which is WAY more than it should be for a 1-bedroom apartment. The rent may be cheap here, but I promise you that you should seriously consider something that costs a little bit more with better options. If you're really desperate and these points don't seem like a big deal to you, give it a shot. Also, if you DO want to be comfortable, take them up on their utility package (in which case you'll probably save a ton on electricity). The utility package was only an extra $80 when I moved in, but even if it's around $100 it would probably be worth it. But I really do not recommend this place at all! Good luck in your apartment search!
