I feel fortunate to live a short walk to Tessaro's. Especially when I have out-of-town guests, we can get a great meal after their travel day and unwind with, as everyone knows, a best burger in Pittsburgh (and just about anywhere else). The aroma of their grill greets you as you get near the establishment. It's so hard to resist getting a burger each time, but it's worth it to try other options. Their posted daily specials are always intriguing. Lastly, if you go on a Thursday, the ribs are outstanding. Thursday is the only day they offer ribs, that tells you something right there. Kind of like old-school places all over America that only serve prime rib one day a week.

Tessaro's is a Pittsburgh landmark where the quality of food is consistently good and the service is above average.  Keep it simple and ask for what you want.  The meat is high quality, the burgers are sizable, and made to order--hitting the mark 9/10 times.  They are unstinting with their sides as well--Home fries can be made to order from crispy to burnt.  Seafood chowder has plenty of seafood. This is a great family friendly option and a solid choice for a quick lunch.

The most consistent burger in town, cooked to perfection and  priced just right. The sides may leave something too desire but the daily catch menu is one of the most fresh and well prepared. Add in old school waiters and waitresses, classic booths, smooth lighting and you've got a Pittsburgh institution.

Went here for lunch on a weekday. We were seated quickly but afterwards service was a bit slow. However, the amazing BBQ burger that came more than made up for it. Perfectly cooked (med. rare) and a generous portion. Biting into the juicy burger released tons of flavor, could probably eat the burger without any sauce or toppings. There are many, many burger restaurants around but this is still the best burger in Pittsburgh.

As someone else said, consistently reliable comfort food. No frills, no weird recipes, just classic and simple food that’s always good. The staff is the right amount of calm and casual yet professional and good at what they do. This is the kind of place to bring out of town friends for a taste of Pittsburgh.
