The fact that the driver license office and registration are at separate locations is very VERY inefficient for everyone. Anyone who doesn't live IN Sherman but rather outside has to drive quite a lot when they don't show up with the exact paperwork perfectly filled out. There is no pass given for people needing to run to go get proof for the office either so if you forget something be prepared to wait behind another 50 people. Other states give people passes for things like this and have a separate line for pass holders. Despite all these frustrating inefficient business policies the BIGGEST reason for my one star review is the incompetence from the employee my husband dealt with. When we pay taxes to drive on roads that we pay taxes to fix and keep using and pay fees so the government can track us and our cars, there needs to be employees who have patience and humility because seriously this is a flawed system. Everyone knows it. The employees know it, don't blame the tax payers and be RUDE. They straight up told him he had to register our car 1st in order to get a new drivers license. Do you hear yourself? That's why he was there 1st! In order to register our new car we just got after moving from a different state we needed a Texas driver's license. This is unacceptable behavior from federal employees, my husband is a disabled vet and I shouldn't have to follow him around with a toddler in tow just to help him process your incompetence and stand up for himself.

Regular work day and phone are on recordings talking about holidays. Try to schedule appointment to renew license after 12 years of clean record and timely payment of taxes and fees. Sherman DPS office is an packed and not all cubes for service are in used by DPS employees

The Sherman DPS was super helpful, it was worth the 30 minute drive. We were in and out in 45 minutes, and that was for a teenager getting his permit and taking his test. Just a few tips, there is no online registration in advance for this office, the do not answer the phone so don't call, use the TDPS website for needed documents and fill them out ahead of time, and show up 10 minutes before they open we were the 5th in line. Thanks Sherman DPS!

If you have any questions good luck getting through they’re looooooong automated service full of WAY to many options that lead to more options that lead to explanations (none of which help) but NOT an actual person.

The reason the lines are so long in Sherman is, Plano and McKinney DL offices send people to Sherman saying they are never busy. Short wait.
