Story

In Manhattan in 1965, there was no place where people could go out to meet friends and make new ones in an environment that was at once both relaxed and yet exciting. Then, Alan Stillman opened Fridays as a way, he said, “to meet Pan Am stewardesses.” Suddenly, there was a place with great food, new and exciting drinks and an electric energy. A place where bartenders mixed the environment just as well as they mixed drinks. In short, a place like nowhere else. Today, Fridays in Newark, DE is still America’s most iconic bar and grill. We embrace and celebrate our heritage as a bar. One that just happens to serve killer food in an environment where it’s always Friday.

Even 45 min before closing, (and apparently it was a very busy night). Service was outstanding. Jeanette was awesome, very attentive. Food was delicious. Will definitely be returning!

BEWARE: DO NOT COME HERE! Currently sitting at the bar and 5 of the trashiest white men and 10 of the loudest black guys I’ve ever seen or heard are screaming in the bar at 7:30pm on a Tuesday night and there around 60-75 people in the entire place. Comments like ‘F that n***a’ and ‘F that h**’ are heard throughout the ENTIRE restaurant and people are telling a guy named Terrance in the group, who is apparently a regular here, to ‘F that h**’ tonight. Multiple people at the bar have asked the manager to ask them to quiet down and they are doing nothing. All of these guys are hitting on every woman in the bar and restaurant, sitting down at their booths and no one is doing anything about it. Not sure how this place is in business, management is horrendous here. TGI Fridays in general, especially this location, is quickly going downhill. The only reason I’m here is because it’s connected to the Embassy Suites which is where I’m staying for business. Unfortunately, you can continually see the negative comments below which is not surprising based off of my experience here as well. BEWARE: DO NOT COME HERE!

My husband and I decided to stop for lunch and were surprised that it was rather slow at lunch time. Our waitress was okay but should have been much better with only two tables. Food was far less than exceptional. I did enjoy a cold glass of sweet tea. Next time we will do drinks and appetizers.

Had an okay experience at TGI Fridays. Our waitress started out great, but towards the end of our dining experience, she barely came by our table, didn't offer my girlfriend a box when she saw she didn't finish her meal, and didn't bring me drink refills for about 20 minutes. This is pretty basic stuff for any restaurant, it's part of the reason people go out to eat, so they can be served. It's part of the restaurant experience. The boneless wings also barely had any sauce on them.

You can stay away from this place and thank me later, OR read the play-by-play for the next 2 minutes about this terribly managed restaurant. Just as a disclaimer, I travel a lot for work and am forced to eat out a good bit throughout the week... and in the 5 years of traveling, I’ve only posted about a bad experience twice (this being the second) just FYI. For those that chose the long route, here we go. I would literally put no stars if that were an option. Service was horrible - sat at a table in the bar for 20 minutes until I found out no one would serve the table. Then asked to be seated where there would be a server, and the host was rude and I had to wait for 5 minutes on a dead Tuesday. Once I was seated, ordered a glass of wine.... which took 15 min to be delivered. Ordered a bowl of soup and my entree... Entree came, but no soup. Server asked if I still wanted it after my entree arrived. For the food quality, I would’ve been better off if the food never came at all because it was terrible - steak and both sides over cooked. Never a fan of chain restaurants but ate here for the convenience of it being attached to my hotel - This will never happen again. Also, TGI Friday’s, you should probably send someone from your corporate office to look into the management here unless your plan is to close down and sell the building space soon.
