The Assembly American Bar & Cafe has always been a family owned and operated restaurant since 1978.

Story

An iconic bar in Hoffman, The Assembly Bar and Cafe is full of delicious American grub. Sit back and enjoy top-notch beer, catch the game on one of our 14 televisions, or grab a scrumptious bite to eat. An award winning restaurant for ribs and burgers, we always have daily specials for lunch and dinner. Our mouth-watering burgers are made from fresh ground beef, and it’s estimated that over 2,500,000 burgers have been sold since opening!

The Assembly has also maintained their quality BBQ ribs which won first place at the Arlington Park Ribfest. The ribs are still purchased from the same purveyor that was used in 1978, and the recipe for homemade BBQ Sauce has remained the same since opening. We revisited this place from 20 years ago and I want to tell you the burgers are as great now as they were then. 
We had a bit of waiting time for someone to actually serve us and when our food came out, my husband's food was not hot (as in sitting around a bit) but they made it right. They made him a fresh burger and tots pronto. Nice! We will be back for the food, hopefully the service gets better.

Best damn dive in the area! In all seriousness this little local burger house is a must if you like big and juicy burgers. I’m from Iowa, here on business, and I think this is a must eat at least once for anyone staying a few days.
The burger was just slightly more done than ordered but was so delicious I hardly cared. Big big patties and huge portions of topping. I had the homemade chips and zucchini appetizer and I could not finish anything if I was to finish the burger. A++ on my list.
Very low key and laid back atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff.

Food and service is amazing here. Met some friends for dinner last night and this was a perfect gathering place. Not too loud which allowed us to have some good conversation while enjoying our burgers. Best burgers around

Long time customer, food is always good, but the service has been declining recently and my last takeout order hit rock-bottom. When ordering online, the email indicates when your order will be ready. I show up 5 minutes after the posted ready time, wait another 15 minutes, then when I ask about the delay, I'm told (with arms stretched and an attitude) "we're busy!". A simple "sorry sir, we're a little busier than normal today and appreciate your business and patience" would've gone a long way. Yes, your words matter in the service industry. Unfortunately, the attitude and taking my business for granted makes this my last visit. It's a shame, as I've been a customer for 18 years. For those reading, go there for the food, not for the service.

The 70’s music is fun. They talk about the best burger in Chicago and that is true if you only eat here and fast food. A good burger but better can be had elsewhere. Need better beer selections as well
