The Bar Method is a one-hour targeted body-sculpting workout focused on individual muscle groups with a stretching component. Clients see long-term, sustainable results when attending class at least 3-5x/week.

Story

The Bar Method is a one-hour total body workout that merges isometrics, interval training, dance conditioning, and sports rehabilitation. The result creates long, lean muscles safely and effectively. The mental and physical benefits can be seen long after the 60 minutes of class. We recommend taking class 3-6x/week for the best benefits.
The Bar Method was founded in 2001 by Burr Leonard, who was trained directly under Lotte Berk of the Lotte Berk Method in London. Burr opened her first Lotte Berk Method studio in Darien, Connecticut in 1991. She and husband Carl Diehl then purchased the rights to the technique and incorporated a physical therapy component to the workout with licensed PT's. The Bar Method's flagship studio is in the Marina District of San Francisco and as of 2016, there are close to 100 studios in the U.S and Canada.
The Bar Method prides itself on being the original, most effective, and safest barre-based workout. With each class you will gain strength and flexibility that will last for years to come. The mental benefits of a mind-body connection workout are unending.

The Bar Method is such and awesome workout that works all of the major muscle groups and a few minor ones that will make your whole body shake. It's like being in an earthquake for an hour, except nothing gets destroyed. My body is a long stronger and I feel graceful and more serene since I started. Awesome atmosphere with very lovely and talented instructors. I loved my first class at Southlake and I know you will love coming there too. I can't wait to do it again.

After meeting the co-owner sisters and hearing about their new studio, I procrastinated for months not knowing how I’d like the classes. I joined up for the new client special month and was hooked! I’ve never been involved in a structured class that I enjoyed. It’s been almost 3 months and I look forward to going to class. I feel stronger and see a difference in my body from the exercises. The instructors are super helpful and friendly, the class kicks my butt but I love it! I highly recommend the studio and talk about it to everyone, it is an amazing experience!

Growing up as a dancer and studying biology with a focus on kinesiology in college I was looking for a workout that was total body, focused on correct form and alignment, easy on the spine, and effective. I have felt very challenged during classes and enjoy the variation of exercises in each class to keep things interesting but consistent. What I enjoy most though is the how knowledgeable and hands on the staff is. They take time to individually correct you to make sure you are doing things with proper alignment and are very detail oriented while being friendly and warm. I recommend this workout to people of all ages and fitness levels.

I've been taking classes at The Bar Method for 10 months now. The staff here is marvelous! What I like most is how they adjust you in the exercises based on your body type and skill levels. When I first began I had to use a side bar for stretching. Now I can lift my leg up to a full ballet barre for my morning stretches! I also was very happy to see that my winter jeans were extremely loose as were several of my tops. Is a fun class with lots of great people. I encourage you to give it a shot!

I have been doing Bar Method for over a year now but bar for over 10 years, and this studio is by far one of the healthiest workout environments I have ever been apart of.The owners Nicole and Erin are truly genuine women who are both extremely passionate about their community and healthy living. Their staff directly reflects this by staying in tune with their clients needs and goals. I started doing bar because of the low impact factor. I needed this due to serious hip pain I had developed from years of gymnastics. Doing Bar consistently has strengthened my legs/glutes which helped eliminate my hip pain completely!!! Lastly, after having four kids and having done every workout possible to get my body back, this is by far the best work out to keep me super toned/ tight and one of the only workouts that I can see next day results! Again, I really love this place, the community and environment is so much fun to be apart of. -Katie Coleman
