Story

What Could You Do with $30?

Do you remember the amazing times you and your friends had on your bikes when you were kids? Bearings Bike Shop delivers that same joy to kids in Southwest Atlanta through the opportunity to earn a bike. We take people’s old bikes and teach kids to make them new again while having the opportunity to earn a bike of their own. But earning a bike isn’t all there is to it. Along the way, they learn how to build healthy relationships with adults and other kids in their neighborhood. They learn an empowering skill set that literally opens up a whole new world to them. A world that is no longer controlled by negative influences but instead positive voices who speak into their lives instead of lure them into life altering mistakes. At Bearings Bike Shop kids learn and develop work ethic, gain confidence, and experience the joy and independence a bike can bring into their lives.

In 2015, we invite you to partner with us by underwriting the ability for 200 kids to come to one of our two shops. $30 a month provides one of them the resources needed to come to the shop, learn while they earn, and get a bike or the supplies needed to keep their bike safe and working.

Because of your support the Bearings Bike Shop is able to offer longterm development rather than short term relief. Your support changes a kid’s future trajectory, supports preventative work, and allows change that other people don’t think is possible.

Bearings Bike Shop is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible and come directly to the bike shop through our parent organization FCS Urban Ministries, a collective of Atlanta non-profits.
