The Gyro Nook

About

The Gyro Nook offers a variety of Hungarian style gyros, salad, soup and paninis. All our food made fresh daily!

Story

Gabor is the owner/cook of The Gyro Nook. After moving to the US when he was 25, he always wanted to open a Gyro shop similar to the ones in his hometown Nyiregyhaza (yes thats one word). There they have great little gyro shops open all hours of the day and are very popular late at night. Here at The Gyro Nook Gabor gives you a little taste of his home.
We offer 3 types of delicious homemade gyro dressings: garlic, spicy and regular. These dressings can be added to a lamb or chicken gyro. We have several specialty gyros to choose from as well. Our most popular being the Gyrozilla which offers a lamb, chicken, garlic and spicy dressing mix topped with freshly cut cucumbers tomatoes and onions. Another popular sandwich is our Lamburger which offers shaved lamb on a buttered and grilled bun, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions. Please come down and check out our menu!

Nice little place to stop and grab a bite. The signs posted added a bit of fun 😀. The food was good, was surprised they didn't have tzatziki, but the house sauce was actually really good. The prices are reasonable, and I like that you have the choice to sit inside or outside.

I love this spot. Great atmosphere, delicious food, and kind staff. This is one of my go to places for lunch or a casual date night.

Today was my first time here. The girl at counter was friendly and very helpful. Place seemed clean and nice. I ordered a "gyrozilla" and a hard root beer. The wait seemed pretty long. I got my sandwich, which was a pita split down the middle and loaded with lamb, chicken and vegetables. I made quick work of half of the sandwich and then got the worse case of heartburn I have ever had. I was sweating when I left and in so much pain I didn't know whether to turn left and go to the hospital or turn right and go to Walgreens. I chose the latter and had to eat 6 fruity tums to get relief. Needless to say, I did not take the other half of the sandwich home. I suspect some seasoning or oil did not agree with me.

Food was pretty good. A nit pricey for what you get. Staff was friendly like the decorations.......pretty catchy.

The last time I had gyros anywhere, I was seriously disappointed by them so I was hesitant to try gyros again. A coworker brought their gyro in and said it came from here, so I decided to give the place a shot. It was practically dead when I went in, with only a couple of people eating and chatting on the patio tables. The cashier was really nice and let me sample the lamb, which I have never had before, and I decided that I'd try the traditional with lamb, sans cheese due to dietary restrictions. I took it home and was not disappointed. The lamb was hot and fell apart easily. The sandwich did as well, but I wasn't deterred because it was so delicious. The sauce is the best part and mixes well with the spices in the meat and the veggies on top. I ordered a full sandwich, and it was very filling! I'm glad I didn't order fries with it, or I'd have to finish it cold. I look forward to coming back and bringing my husband. Edit 5/27/17: I finally brought my husband here and he LOVED it. I asked if he could try a sample of the lamb and they obliged, and despite him not liking lamb previously, he really enjoyed it here! We both ordered Gyrozillas with fries and while he ordered his with regular cheese, he received feta instead, which he wasn't upset about, which is a blessing because he's normally very picky! He was very grateful to me for convincing him to come and eat here! The restaurant was woefully empty for a Saturday night (however it was nearing 10 pm, so I can understand), but this place is far too good to not be filled to the brim with people until closing. The Gyro Nook deserves more business and recognition.
