The Jimani was recommended to us by a local guy as we were walking down the street starving looking for a place to stop and eat. We ordered the spicy crab po’boy and the papa’s Philly cheesesteak. The crab po’boy was so freaking delicious- definitely recommend! The cheesesteak however was EXTREMELY salty, almost to the point of being inedible. We were required to buy a drink since we brought an outside drink into the establishment. I ordered a Malibu and pineapple - not sure if the bartender thought that I was too drunk to notice or what but there was definitely no Malibu or alcohol in the beverage at all. I also did not like that she held my credit card behind the counter and as I was observing while I was in there - she did not hold anyone else’s card. We were in there around 7-8 PM and it was not busy at all. Mediocre experience - would be less stars if the crab po’boy wasn’t to die for. The bartender did seem sweet and genuine if I didn’t feel like we were being profiled for being “intoxicated” pretty blonde girl with highlights and her hair curled - nice smile. The cook brought our food out fast. Overall, we paid $36 for both meals and the drink.
We were looking for the KC Chiefs game and didn’t want to go to a chain sports bar. A local gal referred us to them; enjoyed the company by the bartenders and had ALL the games on! They have the NFL package and an awesome crowd! It was also dog friendly and a nice dive bar find! Would go back in a heart beat. Good priced drinks and beers; lots to choose from on tap!
Disappointing NOLA dive bar. Great tasting burger. But I ended up paying $12 for a seven dollar burger just because I got it dressed and with a slice of cheese - even though I ordered the cheeseburger that was already increased in price. They even charged me extra for a to go order!?? There are a ton of other great burger places and plenty of great dive bars. Go someplace else.
This little dive bar quickly became my favorite bar in the French Quarter. Over the course of my 5 day trip, I became a regular at this bar, and the bartenders even started to recognize my orders when I would come in. The bartenders and patrons alike were so welcoming, which made for a wonderful experience. I would often come in solo while waiting for my girlfriend to finish up at a conference at the Marriott next door, but I never felt alone in this bar. When my girlfriend would tag along, she even commented on how nice and approachable everyone was. As she said, "I see why you love this place." As a sports lover, I also appreciated being surrounded by TVs it was even better than a BWW. The food and drinks were also cheap and delicious. I already miss this bar and I can't wait to visit again whenever I'm able to make it back down to NOLA!
The bartender today that was here was very nasty rude! We were recommended to come here and she ran half the bar out and we had her refund our food before we even got it due to the way she treated us! I’ve never dealt with someone like her before and her name was Rebecca! The bat itself lost over $300 in revenue from just our group and we told numerous people outside to not go in due to the way she acted. They all went a different direction! I would think that maybe management if not ownership would be concerned due to the amount of money that was lost today let alone the other reviews I’ve seen on this bar and the bartender.
Looked cool at first but the bartender was rude to everyone before me which was already giving me anxiety before she got to me and when she did our encounter was no exception. She seemed outright mad that I asked for a draft that they didn’t have and I mistook a similarly colored handle for the draft I wanted. Then she gave me a face when I said I was charging the 1 draft to a card. Which made me think she possibly up-charged me as the 1 draft beer was $10. I have been in and out of many bars on this trip to New Orleans, almost always ordering a draft beer, but as expensive as the other places have been none were charging $10 a draft. My wife and I grabbed the beer and left immediately! We don’t want to pay those prices and be treated poorly in the same place. Keep walking past Jimani if you see it. Reading the reviews there is a theme of the Bartender being rude to everyone. There is also a lot of talk about how Locals are welcome and tourists aren’t but I don’t understand this since everyone’s money spends the same. This is definitely a dive with all the negatives of a dive and none of the positives…ie friendly service good and prices.
Do not patronize. Hubby and I attempted this place. The attendant tried to seat us right at the door, however it was cold so we decided to get on wait list. He told us it will be a 20 minute wait but wait outside. Mind you, they are not busy nor crowded. We decided to leave. Why would we wait in the cold for 20 minutes if we already declined the table at the cold door?
Cute bar just off the main street. They have great cocktails and super friendly service. The food was amazing!! We tried the chicken club and the crawfish balls. Would definitely try again!! The reason for the 4 stars is it took a while to get service. We did enjoy the price, service and will be back.
Just stopped in for a snack and a beer before a day in the quarter and they were excellent!
Worst place. We are not from USA . Went to this place to watch the superbowl and it started off great . Until the bar staff yelled something at me over the noise of the bar when I brought the drinks. Couldn't make it out but carried on . Until I reordered and paid one of the staff came to my table and demanded a dollar tip and cut me off. Inbarassing and unessary for a tourist town . We don't tip where we are from but if had explained we had to we would have understood instead of the unessaey result. The bar manager looked to fire the door man and they got into a heated yelling match in the middle of the game about money. Noticed then most people were buying drinks next door and walking in to watch the gameinsteas of ysing the bar. Good choice. We left at halftime and found the bar next door honest and cheaper with great conversation and bar staff. Avoid this bar if you can disgusting attudue -staff-washroom facilties-cheats
