We've eaten at "The Jar" quite a lot over the last couple of years, and the food is always pretty good. The restaurant has been recently placed under new ownership, and for the most part the transition has seemed unremarkable; which is also good. I see a lot of reviews, here, claiming that the prices are "high", "unreasonable", or even "outrageous", and these sentiments are to be expected in rural areas. Those of you who frequently travel beyond the perimeter of the Carroll County line will likely find the pricing to be reasonable... if not curiously cheap. 
Thus, based only on food-quality, pricing, and the physical qualities of the restaurant itself, I would be compelled to leave a five-star rating; nevertheless, I've left only three stars. 
The deduction is based on the quality of performance from the servers, and the slow delivery from the kitchen staff. Unfortunately, many of the servers are poorly trained or lack any training at all, thus it's not unusual to wait ten+ minutes for drinks to hit the table. A typical Sunday rush is met with no hostess, and no hostess means a four-family pileup at the door with all servers believing that another server will eventually handle the dilemma. There’s an established principal of management which goes something like the following: Whenever responsibility isn’t specifically designated, the ball is consistently dropped. That principle is perfectly demonstrated at a restaurant with no designated Hostess.
Three of the last four times I've been to The Jar, I've had to leave. One was because I was never even greeted at the door (let alone ever seated), and two were because 45 minutes had passed (lunch hours) and still no food. This is unacceptable to anyone who has any afternoon obligations at any time. 
I’m convinced that the new owners of this restaurant could create a better experience for their patrons by creating a structured performance expectation for their staff, proper training for their servers, and a designated, unimpeded management position so that things are not running amuck when the owners have to step away.

This place has some very good food. And the inside of the restraint has some beautiful decoration. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I already have to friend and family.

First time I've been back since the new ownership and I'm not disappointed one bit! The chicken and sausage gumbo still tastes fantastic too

Have eaten here 3 times, about the best in Berryville, but can't recommend it. Had a different plate each time and not  very appetizing. Service was good, kitchen was very slow. cashier was nice. Pricing way too high.

Great place to eat. Had breakfast. Portions are most adequate, and service is fast and friendly. If you use a debit or credit card,  be prepared to pay an extra 50 cents.
