While the prices may be slightly higher than some of the tiny take out joints around town, the quality of the food more than offsets this. You can tell they use top quality meats and veggies. It shows it the taste. Their new location is beautiful and most of their wonderful wait staff has been there for longer than I've been in the city (17 years). It's simply the best quality Asian food on this side of town. Highly recommended and a family favorite.

I've been a fan of the Wong family, (Rose and George's) restaurants, along with Margaret's wonderful Shaker Blvd. house parties for 40-years now. While their commercial gastronomic endeavors have always been super fresh and delicious, the vibe, atmosphere, and service of the new Pearl Asian Kitchen location left me strangely uneasy, moderately upset, sadly disappointed. The "old" Pearl of the Orient, which was located across the street in a post WW-II strip shopping center was warm, cozy, and a welcoming neighborhood bar/restaurant where everybody knew your name. The new Asian Kitchen is an homage to techno-modern interior decorating, re-constructed in the auditorium portion of the long-abandoned 'VOGUE' Movie Theatre, an original RKO-General Pictures Show Palace that has had many other 'lives' as a Men's Warehouse Clothier, and more recently a Panera Bakery. It is big, it is loud, with reverberating hard surface walls, soaring ceilings, vivid glossy accent colors, polished wood bar, and visually arresting top-shelf liquor displays. All of which add up to a soul-less space when compared to its' amethyst filled, warmly lit, predecessor. Despite a calm and sparsely settled Friday lunch in the bar area, our server, who also appeared to be the day manager, running roughshod over the adjacent dining room, and a half-dozen floor staff, had to return to our table no less than 4-times to make sure that he had remembered our three item order correctly. Twice before the crunchy on the outside, overstuffed with delectably fresh vegetables on the inside appetizer egg roll arrived. Again, when my companion's equally tempting scallion pancakes were served a few minutes later. And yet again, for the fourth time, before my entree arrived, just to make sure he had heard me correctly, that the vegetarian fried rice was my carb of choice, over the equally glycemic option of the steamed white variety. This manager was definitely over multi-tasked and holding the fort, as Rose Wong the owner was traveling abroad, for September's Jewish Holidays. I shall return for the wonderful food, but the new place does nothing to add to a meal's enjoyment.

It was ok. Our spring rolls were a bit late. When they arrived the waiter didn't bring any dishes we had to ask for them. When I asked for hot sauce, what I got was something sweet instead. Overall the food was good.

Recently relocated across the street into bright and beautifully decorated new space. The sizzling rice soup for two is a great date night treat that literally sizzles. Meat, chicken and chunky veggies in a lightly salted broth. The Asian style tacos are tasty but very salty. The 8-jewel chicken is loaded with exotic mushrooms and bright crisp veggies. One tip: if you like your food spicy, request the sesame oil condiment. A few drops will add some needed heat to your dish.
