The Post Chicken & Beer - Lafayette
"At The Post Chicken & Beer, we fry up crispy, juicy, Colorado-style fried chicken which just happens to be gluten free and pair it with award-winning craft brews. Our unique recipe is the result of years of research and tinkering by chef and partner Brett ‘Smitty’ Smith. At this chicken party, we only serve humanely raised, fresh, all-natural chicken that we brine for hours, dip in buttermilk, and dunk in seasoned gluten-free flour. Our pressure fryers keep our bird nice and juicy with a crispy crust, even late at night when you’re sneaking leftovers out of the fridge with the door open we won’t tell."

Some great friend chicken and pretty good craft beer. The chicken was moist with a light but crunchy and lightly spiced breading. The home-style side dishes were all thoroughly enjoyed by our group including mashed potatoes with gravy, collard greens, and biscuits. The restaurant was busy but service was quick and all staff were friendly, polite, and helpful with all questions. Sep 2022
This wasn't our first time but brought the kids so they could experience the fried chicken. Again the Post never disappoints. They each got the kids chicken tenders with Mac n cheese, which both were great. Wife and I had the roasted chicken and the chicken ranch BLT. Both excellent and juicey that little tomatoe jam is really good. I have had their fried chicken dinner which is also so scrumptious. Def will be back!
Amazing service, amazing food, and most importantly no wait at 11 on a Saturday morning. Pictured are the Nashville hot chicken and waffles with chorizo gravy. And the Benedict which my friends said was really good. Pick your own juice for the mimosas about seven dollars each we picked pineapple and pomegranate. Can’t wait to be back!
This place combines my two favorite things: chicken and beer! The is one of the coziest restaurants on Boardway. Highly recommend for great tasting selection of beer and fried chicken. It felt like a thanksgiving dinner, especially with the decorations and wood aesthetic. Will definitely come back again!
Would give it 10 stars if I could have a decent quiet conversation with my wife here. Great food, really great food. The staff is awesome and I’ve been here about 6 times. The staff and manger are very nice and courteous. But if you want to have a peaceful time, with loud people and great food, then bring ear plugs or ear muffs. Gets really loud. That’s really about it. Thanks to the staff for being great. I really enjoyed the times it was more quieter. Will miss the food.
My only regret is that we didn't know sooner. Unbelievable, perfect, absolutely delicious everything. The chicken literally brought back childhood memories of chicken after church. The green chili macaroni and cheese was shared by all and there was none left. The biscuits are served with butter and you better make sure everybody gets their own because sharing can go really bad really quick. This is truly a gem, a diamond in the rough, that little spot on Broadway that you probably driven past a thousand times. I had the four piece split 50/50 between normal and Tennessee flavored. The spice on that Tennessee flavored is undescribable, just stupid good oozing with flavor. The original has so much flavor in it I didn't think the Tennessee was going to be able to compete with it, until I did and it did. The chicken is served with a little bowl of brown gravy? Save that for the chicken breast. Not that it needs it because that white meat is almost as tender as the dark meat and you know I would be lying if I said it was the same. If somebody at the table got french fries and you didn't, borrow one and give it a gravy bath... so good. Everybody enjoyed everything, it's very affordable. My family of six walked out of there holding our bellies for $148 and that was with one dessert everybody had tea or Sprite or some beverage and an alcoholic beverage was consumed as well. Wait for it, did I mention it all the chicken is gluten free? That's right, the chicken's fingers the chicken breast the chicken thigh the chicken wing every single piece gluten-free. My daughter was clinically diagnosed with celiacs when she was four. I've done my best to make good gluten-free chicken and I've gotten Good at it. I'm never making fried chicken again I'm going there every time. I honestly can't believe there wasn't a line going down Broadway. If you like fried chicken you absolutely have to go here. If you like fried chicken and you eat a gluten-free diet you're welcome. This was my first visit here, but my daughter who has no choice but to eat gluten-free made this her third trip down Broadway. A lot of places say that their food is gluten free. if my daughter eats there she will tell you whether it's gluten-free or not in about 30 minutes. This establishment does a very good job to prevent cross-contamination, she has not gotten sick. Everybody who works there is extremely helpful extremely friendly and my entire family was in and out at dinner time within an hour. Our waitress Jenna was very patient helpful and courteous. The place was clean the artwork, the decor eclectic all fun to look at. I wish I could do six stars but then again I'm just a normal guy giving you my opinion. My family loved it and we will be going back. Lastly, as featured in the television show "diners drive-thrus and dives' featured this wonderful place as top 10 best fried chicken in the United States.
I remember the first time I’ve been to The Post, around this time in 2021. And it was probably the juiciest, crispiest, golden brown, well-seasoned fried chicken I’ve ever had. It was always hot and juicy, as if it was straight out of the fryer. So we kept going back and it’s been consistently great…except for these last two times within the span of few months, including today. Idk, maybe there was change in the recipe or something, but the chicken was neither juicy, hot, nor crispy as it once was. When I cut into it, it’s a little dry and the batter’s kinda cracked and falling apart, as if it’s been sitting out for a bit or they didn’t use enough coating. It’s really disappointing to see because I’d always recommended The Post to everybody and their mothers. Not sure if I’ll get the half fried bird plate again. Thankfully, I’ll always have the half-pound peel and eat shrimp.
Have been a fan of Post for years, so it’s great to have easy access right in Denver. The chicken is succulent even through the frying and paired with their brews $7 bucks for a sixer of pilsner?! great combo! Biscuits are also great. Only minor gripe is that the “large side” of brussels sprouts in the take out meal for 4 is quite small half pint container. 4.5 stars overall.
I've been here a number of times over the last few years and have loved it. But this visit was a bit disappointing. The waitstaff was great but the food was meh. The fried chicken was just above Luke warm, and not crispy, like it was made last night and reheated. My biscuit was also stale and Luke warm. Also, there were a few flies that wouldn't leave me alone. I probably won't come back.
Our table of six got a nice range of food off the menu and everything was great. Chicken tenders and the ranch BLT sandwich were my highlight menu item picks.Food: 5/5
