We went here on a recommendation from a friend and we are so glad we did. Everything was delicious from the home made sun-dried tomato butter with our bread to the tender juicy bone in pork chop. Our server was great, very helpful and had a positive attitude the entire night. The restaurant had a great feel and we loved the decor. My only drawback was we were seated right next to the server station which made the meal seem less private and a little louder. Great restaurant, we will definitely go back!
My family called and set birthday reservations for a table of five on Saturday. We were seated upstairs in what at first appears to be a private room, except there are three large groups of people inside a small room and oversized furniture. We were sitting at a vibrating table above what felt like a train station. The entire meal our table was shaking, along with the chairs and our feet on the floor. After seeing several other large open tables, we asked three different staff members to please seat us in another area. They refused, and so we stayed put. The room has bare walls and no decorations to help dim the noise in this room. It was so loud, all we could hear was the rowdy table of 8 crammed in beside us at a boardroom conference table. We could barely hear our server recite the dinner specials. Our group ordered 3 appetizers, 5 entrees, and one bottle of wine. The charbroiled oysters and calamari were a huge mistake to order, because neither of the dishes were fresh or tasted as they should. The menu listed "bone-in pork chop," which had no bone at all. The menu listed two fried catfish filets and there was just one. The menu listed asparagus and rice with the sea bass, making note of "no extra sides" ... when in fact, there was maybe one pinch of asparagus shredded and tossed inside a bag of uncle ben's dried-out rice. Sea bass also did not taste fresh at all, so it wasn't eaten. My salmon was well-flavored, but very much overcooked and dried out that it was almost too hard to bite into. The salmon came with five skinny stalks of asparagus, which I shared with my sister who didn't have any with her sea bass. I'm writing this to explain that my first visit was great only 3 months ago. So for my own birthday, I thought it was the best option in town. We all drove from three states to meet for the weekend and one night out, so I was embarrassed I made this choice. The entire group was disappointed by the staff, the food and the incredibly uncomfortable atmosphere you stuck us in. I hope they can make improvements to provide better food and experiences for other guests in the future.
Amazing dinner last night! Scallops seared perfectly along with sauteed spinach and grilled asparagus. Dynamite? Shrimp were so good. Oysters not as big as we're used to but heck, it isn't oyster season so no blame there. Service was also impeccable!
Beautiful place. !! Formerly a bank and the wine cellar is the bank vault. Food was great !! We had calamari and grilled oyster apps. The chicken my wife and grandson ate was great to them. I had the grilled grouper and would recommend this to any one that seafood. Service was personable and speedy.
Great food- we had the surf and turf- ambiance and the waiter did a great job. Perfect dining experience!
We had the wedding rehearsal dinner for 35 people here and it turned out to be a fantastic event. They pretty much gave us the entire upstairs with a dedicated staff. We worked with the owner Michael Taylor on the menu and drink items and came up with 3 different meals that turned out to be outstanding selections. The staff was dedicated to our event, very friendly and gave us their undivided attention. So, if you want a stress free dinner for a group occasion I would highly recommend the Reel Grill. This was by far the best food we have ever had! We are visiting the area from PA and decided to check it out! Service was AMAZING!! Food was amazing! Their specials were to die for! If you happen to be in the area get here! You will not be disappointed!
Set in an old bank in downtown Milledgeville the seafood was fresh and the ambiance can enable both formal and casual dining. Parking: Parking is available all along the street. Wheelchair accessibility: Several wheelchair access points to the sidewalk. The doors to the restaurant are quite heavy however.
I've read some of the reviews posted here not to base mine on but rather to see what the different experiences were like for a vast array of diners. I realized that opinions and taste vary. My wife and I visited for the first time never really having heard of it other than a Google search for something different. I believe we found a hidden gem . I would definitely recommend this establishment to family and friends. Whatever you guys are doing currently at the Reel Grill , keep up the good work. We'll be back , it was well worth the 45 minute drive from Dublin, Ga.
Me, my mom and sister are always looking to try various restaurants! You can't go wrong with this one. The food was excellent and the service fantastic. Just an over all GREAT place to dine.
