About

This exceptional venue delivers a beautiful setting for dining, lounging, weddings, meetings, gatherings, and music.

Story

The Stone House specializes in bringing you the best of Nevada City food, drink, entertainment and architecture.

Undeniably exquisite in appearance, the building itself naturally brings the "outside in" with hand-cut stone walls & beautifully reclaimed timber.

With 10,000 sq. feet of space, we've made the most of every inch of this unique and historical building.

The Stone House contains:
An upstairs restaurant, 2 glamorous bar areas, a premier venue and stage for concerts and shows, extensive space for weddings and corporate events, charming patios, a wine cavern and an exclusive 3rd floor penthouse.

Our Mediterranean-influenced restaurant features organic, local, farm-to-table cuisine with a seasonally updated menu. Our beverage offerings range from craft cocktails, local micro-brews, regional wines, and an espresso bar.

A large group of us( 20 plus) dined at the Stone House recently. It is a beautiful venue, but the food was not worth eating or paying the high price. A lot of us had the brisket sandwich and not one of us had a good thing to say about it. Was tough and rubbery. The salad my friend ordered was basically lettuce and maybe 3 slices of orange she said. High price for lettuce. Only positive thing to say about the dining experience was the young man serving water was on top of it. I honestly will never eat there again and the rest of the group greatly agrees. You are better off going to fast food. Cheaper and better tasting food.

Absolutely loved our visit. Had vegetarian and all sorts of meat options. I love that they had really good and savory vegetarian options. Farm to table, locally sourced and also non-alcoholic options. There was a live band that was so perfect, and the ambiance was wonderful!

The creativity and commitment to top notch ingredients, the inspired way of bringing out the character and interactions of very carefully curated meats, grains and vegetables. The menu is varied week by week so it's always fresh and I'm excited to see what they come up with next. The dessert chef is also great! I haven't experienced the service issues I've seen below but I know they're paying a lot of attention to that now.

Limited menu, I get the idea that the menu is limited on farm to table selection availability. The food was cold and the desert was cold. Who wants cold food? Lots of fat and gristle on the pork. If you order chocolate cake you shouldn’t get cold cake and cold chocolate sauce to pour over it. Also who wants cold gingerbread cake? This place has potential, but they need to pay attention to the details.

Vegetarian offering for wedding was a very good risotto with vegetables. The green salad was overly spiced with salt and pepper, but very little oil or vinegar. It was quite noisy in the facility, but that is to be expected with 120+ people for wedding. Not enough chairs set out for wedding guests, with many having to stand throughout the ceremony. Cigarette and cigar smoking allowed right outside doors, which made it very difficult to endure the heat inside the building (A/C did not appear to be working after 8pm) NOT ADA compliant. No elevator for walker or wheelchair patrons to access dining room upstairs. Had to carefully work way up stairway, holding railings widely spaced on both sides of steep stairway. Excuse was given that it is an historical building, but we are aware of countless "historical" buildings which have been upgraded to ADA compliance. Enjoyed visiting Nevada City, but will not frequent The Stone House again.
