My wife and I just had a terrible experience at the Walking Company at Washington Square Mall. The heavy set fellow working there at 2:30pm on Thursday 8/3/17 was condescending, inattentive, passive aggressive, and refused to recognize the difference between finished leather and suede. When initially asked to try on two pairs of shoes, the associate brought out different shoes then were asked for and when asked for the ones requested he responded "they're the same shoe just a different color" when they were made from different leathers. The associate continued to be aloof and did not assist when debating about size and fit. We were ready to purchase two pairs of shoes but could not decide between two sizes. When asked to try various sizes, the associate again brought out the suede shoes (instead of the finished leather). We asked if the fit would be the same and again we're met with condescension and the phrase "the leather shouldn't matter". Suede does not stretch and fit like finished leather! We would have walked away with both pairs had we received anything close to good customer service. One of the worst parts of our experience was watching other customers receive help from the other knowledgeable employees (scanning feet for proper arch support, talking about various fits of different brands, etc) while we were stuck with the guy who clearly didn't want to be there. We left the walking company and she spent $200 at Nordstrom.

DO NEVER BUY ANYTHING ONLINE FROM THIS STORE. The staff in the store is amazingly nice! HOWEVEERRRR, I asked a pair of uggs online and it took around 7 or more days to be shipped, and they send it to a wrong address and wanted to make me pay the difference when the mistake was theirs. The customer service was SO rude!!!! she blamed me for the misunderstanding saying that I wrote 27 as my apt number instead of 275. I just recommend you to get everything at the store. Do not purchase ever online. (Happened 3 times, and they wanted to blame me in all)

The sales associate who helped me select a pair of black ABEO sandals and some compression stockings was very helpful. She arranged for my sandals to be shipped to me. Through the years I've shopped at three Walking Company stores and always received patient and respectful service.

wow. no more thinking of my feet! Love the peeps and the shoes. Buying more. Lots of compliments on my shoes. Pricey but pain-free. You choose.
