In my opinion this area is very well maintained it allows your spirit, mind and body to find balance. It's a quiet and relaxed open space area where you can enjoy your life. Bring plenty of drinking water, fruit and snacks to keep yourself fueled. Walk your dog, ride your bicycle or simply walk just have fun doing your thing. Taking pictures is also recommend because of the beautiful landscapes.

You can only drive to the park on the weekends, otherwise you have to park and walk in. The trails are good for hiking, we normally take our dogs even though there are several signs saying no dogs in the nature preserve. We just keep them in leash and no one has ever said anything about them.

Great scenic route for a stroll, hike, trail run, or bird watching.

I love the beautiful trails and view of downtown SD and Tijuana. Lots of rare birds can be found here. My advice is to use some Off before you go.

Not your typical beach, since it's about as far South as one can go on American soil (sand?)! Because of this, on the US side, there's a beautiful, long, beach stretching all the way South into Mexico - if you turn and walk 100feet in the other direction, the sound of Ocean waves crashing is replaced by regular and steady sound of helicopters beating regularly & closely overhead. There's a huge, marshy wetland that separates the two countries here & so the US has a trio (@ least) of Helicopters which fly a constant, circulating pattern, looping around, which lends a definite sense of the surreal to the whole experience. Nice waves, though!..
