Having grown up in Utah, I'm new to the world of "buying wine anywhere but a state-run max-security liquor store".  You can get wine in most grocery stores in NC, but the selection and prices have always struck me as sub-par.  One day, after not being able to find any port at a Harris Teeter, one of the employees there told me about Total Wine & More, and I am so glad that she did.  This store has just about every wine you'd expect to be available country-wide, and a huge selection of beers to boot.  I was a bit disappointed by the choice of imported beers (there are a lot of them, but few of the German / Polish brews I was looking for).  Prices also aren't amazing, but they are definitely fair.  The employees here are friendly and competent, you can get kegs, and there's a happy hour wine/beer tasting.  It's a good place, and I'll be coming back often.

The name says it all - and the staff are very helpful at navigating all the selections.  Good beer selection too - but it is really about the wine.
