After a full restoration, Tower Theatre is one of the city's finest live music venues. The theatre was a premiere OKC movie house for almost 40 years.

Story

Oklahoma City's most iconic, live music venue...with a sordid past.

The Tower Theatre opened in 1937 and is one of Oklahoma City’s last original movie houses with an intact auditorium and neon marquee. After many years of movie premieres and historic runs of classic films, the grand dame of Uptown 23rd Street was reduced to showing adult movies before closing in 1989. She reopened briefly in the 1999 as a live music venue, and was shuttered again in 2000.

The building was purchased in 2005 by Marty and Mike Dillon, who began renovations. In 2014, Oklahoma City development group Pivot Project, comprised of David Wanzer, Ben Sellers, and Jonathon Dodson, stepped in to complete the project.

Most amazing sound system ever! I’ve only managed to be to one show here and I have to say their sound was on point. Especially in the back of the house (not the case in most instances). Vivid acoustics and deep bass throughout. I was very impressed. In fact, I can’t even think of anything I’ve witnessed live that sounded better!

The area around the theater isn't the best, but parking lot is well lit. There is also a crosswalk to get across 23rd Street to the theater. The theater has several sections called terraces. Each section is a little higher than the one in front of it. The best viewing of the stage in each section is the first row because you don't have to worry about a tall person sitting in front of you. The acoustics in the theater are very good. In all I had a very good first time experience at the Tower Theatre.

Awesome historic that that has recently been renovated. The building has an old vintage feel and supports a lot of local talent. There are movies and music events held here and they offer a concession stand with popcorn, candy and drinks. I highly recommend anyone checking out the space.

I sat in the balcony for a concert and the view is great. It beats standing on the main floor. Staff is pretty friendly. They could benefit from lighting on the floor to find your row but your cellphone light helps. I really didn't have any complaints. I will definitely return.

Use to come here 20 years ago. Glad to see it functioning again!! Great place for live music.. Sound was OK..drink prices are about like all venues ( not cheap )..they had snack food. (Popcorn and candy) There was no seating on the floor, Which is a drag for older people. Some stools would be a good idea. Ashtrays outside so people don't liter their cig butts all over the ground..also a idea. Bathrooms nice and clean! Re-entry was allowed. Parking north of the tower or across the street. All in all great place.
