I tried to schedule a medical procedure because their ad was first on google results. The website was very informative, but when I called to actually ask questions and schedule the procedure, I was quickly lost in phone hell and when I actually got a human on the phone, they were unable to answer basic scheduling questions. I tried twice. Moving on.

Very expensive, poorly managed medical center whose focus is set on money, not their patient's well being. I displayed numerous symptoms a life threatening condition. It took over 2 months before I was able to receive a proper scan and diagnosis. Through this time, I would be charged several hundred dollars for a simple 15 minute appointment with my doctor. Finally, my neurologist prescribes a very expensive medication (~$100 per 2 weeks). At this point, I become fed up and go to Kaiser for a different neurologist. At Kaiser, they point out that I was prescribed one of the most expensive medications on the market and that UC Irvine appeared to be paid to promote this medication. Kaiser replaces my prescription with one nearly 1/10th the cost. Long story short, never come to UC Irvine... in the best interest if your own well-being and your wallet...

BEWARE UCI-ER-TOWERS-3rdFLOOR OUR OWN REAL LIFE HORROR MOVIE DAY One ER Patient encounter. 1) Adult female on chemo treatment. 2)Patient just started new oral chemo therapy. She presents with “Sore throat to the extent the patient can not swallow anything except sips of water or ice chips”. GOOGLE these symptoms!! This is an easy diagnosis!! Obviously UCI ER doesn’t care, listen or even look at their patients history of cancer treatment at their own hospital. Days 1-3 treatment plan: observe patient. Regular diet: example juices, toast, fresh fruit ect (the exact opposite of what my mom needed) During these 3 days my mother’s throat and mouth changed to an entirely open bleeding disaster. The 4th day after our insistence, someone start paying attention to our mother’s pain and came up with a plan to help relive her mouth and throat pain. She received her first pain medication. My mother was asked at least 4 times by doctors if “she was just ready to die”. Hmm, if my mom had been ready to die, UCI/towers floor 3 had definitely given her the time to pass in the first 3 days she was there. She had multiple dr’s, suggesting multiple unnecessary procedures. Yet, there appeared to be no communication between the doctors. I do want to thank most of the nurses. Beatrice, Von, Tess and especially Twinkles! Twinkles was my mom’s nurse for 3 days. Any and every nurse could learn something from her. She can insert a needle into a rolling vein with perfection. She has a gift for nursing that is filled with compassion and care. She connects with her patients like they are part of her family. She is our “Star” and we will always remember her with gratitude. If you are unlucky enough to get “Dinah” as your nurse... and you need help...GET someone else. Unfortunately the night we got her, it appeared that the charge nurse answered to Dinah. In my opinion Dinah (who I was told has years of experience being a nurse) has lost her ability to communicate with patients or family members. She is rude and shows no compassion or common sense. Unfortunately the next day I found out she also can be very vindictive. She passed her incompetence from the night before onto another nurse. “The lidocaine jell, was ordered by the dr. The full instructions were verbally given to the nurse and family members” the dr explained to the family how to use it, to numb my mom’s mouth especially while she ate. Dinah had a meltdown. “Absolutely no lidocaine access for family members”!! When my mom was admitted to UCI I flew in from out of state. I went about 40 hours without sleep and witnessed my sweet mother go through this horror for over a week by the time I met Dinah. I was absolutely emotionally and physically exhausted, not a good time for Dinah to share her unbending and uncaring personality. My mom was released... in my opinion and the Dr’s I have as family members and friends, she was released too early. But, we also knew that keeping her there was absolutely out of the question. I can’t believe UCI is a learning hospital. I don’t understand how a hospital as a whole can be so incompetent. One last note .. they also sent my mom home with a needle still in her “port”.

Waiting Hospital of California. Hope you emphasize how serious your situation is because if time is a factor then walking into the ER will make ur situation worse. They take longer then they should in absolutely everything. And for a first timer nobody informed me of uncountable amount of useful information. My damm 1st room didn't even have a remote. 12+ hour wait time to be admitted and yet as I sit here in there gastronomy building right now, I'm, yes you guessed it waiting. I honestly came here because I thought they were above n beyond quality but now I see size really doesn't matter lol. Not to even mention prices because I've been to 4 hospitals and the majority of the rating I gave is due to THE ACTUAL MEDICINES n the few people who are good but unfortunately the bad service overcomes the nice good people by a LANDSLIDE. Final sentence, if time is important to you and or customer service then definitely and you'll regret it so bad if don't, but definitely DONT go to UCI Medical.

This visit is based on fair observation and processing time, not trying to put in any personal opinion, or any comment about hospital bills. 10/11/2017. I took my mom in to UCI Emergency. Parking at Emergency parking for free (just need to provide the Parking Space number to Receptionist). 11:30 Am: Check in @ front desk. Only take about 5min for paper work and reasons why go to ER. Not a lot of patients waiting yet. 11:40: Get called in for triage. (Some nurse got a poker face which is not a big deal to me) 11:55. See Dr. Burns. He checks my mom condition for about 3-4 minutes which is considered generous. (Average time doctor see patients maybe 1-2 minutes or less). Maybe depend on how well you can communicate with the doctor, and your chief of complaint. After that, we go back to waiting area. 12:35: Get Chest Xray done 13:00: get Blood draw done. Nurse offers some pain meds also. 13:17: Nurse Practitioner/MSN Kathleen takes my mom into the room for eval. Another good 4minutes talking, checking lungs, heart, listen to patient’s history. Then go to the Staging Area to get treatment (only chair here, no bed) 1330: During time in Staging area, my mom get breathing treatment, meds, IV infusion… Some of the nurse are very attentive. Especially R.N Lenci, and N.P Kathleen. They keep coming back and check on my mom multiple time which make me surprised. Around 15:20 : Lab work, Xray results come out. Get discharge. Total time @ UCI ER about 4 hours. Time might be differ depend on patient’s condition I guess. Thanks UCI team
