I think Ulta has a great basic selection of makeup and skincare products as well as hair care products and often times they run really great sales and coupons.. Also they have a really fantastic Rewards program where you accumulate points each time you shop and these go towards money off later.. If you play your cards right you can wind up getting up to 50% off of your purchases by using this rewards system.. 
I've never felt the customer service has been super spectacular or I would have given five stars... also I've never tried any of their salon services and would be nervous to do so based on a lot of negative reviews I've heard and read... I do recommend utilizing the store for makeup, skin care and hair care purchases as well as taking advantage of sales and the rewards program - as this is truly the benefit of Ulta..

Michael, the Assistant Manager at Ulta on Harbison Blvd., provided me with excellent service yesterday. I returned an expensive facial treatment that didn't live up to its many promises and discovered that instead of the $95 I originally paid for it, I would only receive $45 because I kept the product for a period longer than the full-return window. Michael made what could've been a disappointing experience easier to accept. He was courteous, knowledgeable and empathetic. I eventually found another product that I wanted and he went over and beyond the call of duty to make sure I received the best price. During checkout, Michael gave me a lovely promotional bag for Mother's Day. Best day ever! Thanks Michael!

They hung up on me after waiting 5 minutes to book and appointment and my daughter went in for an angled bob and her hair wasn't even and no angled bob.. she came out looking as if my 9 year old trimmed her hair. I was repeatedly asked to wait to be seen so she could fit her in between a color appointment. The managers (4 of them) helped one customer, who was also complaining. My daughter and I had to wait to the side to be seen. The manager said she doesn't do hair, but can see it is definitely not what she asked for! Why is a hairstylist cutting my daughter's hair if she doesn't know the cut or what she is even doing.

I've never had problems with ULTA because I feel that they have a variety of products for all skin related needs! However....if you are a woman of the slightest bit of color looking for makeup ...i wouldn't waste your time at this location.
