The food was good, the service was also excellent. The food is not exactly authentic, I can tell by the way they do their shrimp tempura. However I have to say overall the food quality is pretty good. The location and the decoration of the place is very cool. The open kitchen concept is also a very nice feature. However, the seating arrangements are a little bit tight. Overall, I would come again. But the price is slightly higher than what it’s worth

First off the location is really cool and the atmosphere is great. Great for an intimate setting or catching up with a few friends. I will say, this place is pretty intimidating if you aren't a sushi aficionado. It is also pretty expensive if you're trying to order enough food to get full on. The food I did have though, was outstanding. I honestly can't stop thinking about the spicy tuna. I have not had any that compares to it. My best advice is bring your credit card and lean on your waiter for help if you don't have a game plan.

I'm sorry, but this is Pittsburgh's best sushi hands down. The fish tastes so fresh and while there are other sushi spots I enjoy, this one surpasses them all tenfold. The presentation is wonderful, even the simple dishes like Miso are extraordinary. Plus who doesn't love little red neon cast. Be prepared to spend a little more than other sushi spots in the city, it's worth it. I recommend the sashimi platter.

Probably the best Japanese food that I've had in Pittsburgh. While a lot of places around that have Japanese food serve a lot of the same dishes Umami serves a unique selection of dishes that is further complimented by an extensive list of rice beers and Japanese Whiskey.

Great food, suitable for either a date night or a group. Everything I had was delicious, especially the unagi sashimi and the wagyu beef tenderloin robata. Service was attentive and polite and the atmosphere was awesome!
