I had to visit the emergency room recently and I want to say that I was treated like a king. From the minute I walked in there everyone was very helpful from the man at the window who gets you signed in to all of the nurses and the doctor. They took good care of me really quickly and I felt very comfortable there and I don't like hospitals. I was really impressed and would like to thank everybody that got me back on my feet.

My wife stayed over night for surgery. She activated the system to notify the nurses that she needed help. The notice was flashing in the hallway for an hour before anyone came to help. Unbeleivable! What were they doing for an hour?

This hospital has the worst and most unorganized group of employees you could imagine in the finance and administrative departments. Just try to get someone to call you that has the knowledge, ability, and authority to straighten out an overcharge to your credit card. I was told it would take 3 to 5 business days to issue a $1,100+ credit back to my card for a procedure that was not performed. It has now been 5 1/2 weeks and the credit has not been issued. It does not matter who, when, or how many times I call to speak with a person, all I ever get is the run around and transferred from one person's voicemail to another. My attempt to straighten out the matter by going to the hospital and speaking with the CFO, who I was told was in a meeting, was pointless as well. During the visit, I expressed my concern to the administrative assistant of human resources and provided my contact information. It is now 5:28 pm and no return call has been received, nor can anyone be reached by phone as the offices are now closed.

I am giving a 2 because for the first time in a long time I was treated like a human being going to the hospital. Every time I've ever had to go to UGH they are always very disorganized, rude, and even when I have taken my children they were misdiagnosed, or just treated like it's not a big deal, we even have waited for hours while my child with established breathing issues was having issues breathing. I've had nothing but terrible experiences at this hospital over the past 15 years. Even last year while I was having post eclampsia the dr that night who was on the floor was extremely nasty with me, even went so far as to take every last shred of dignity I had for myself while the nurse under him continually apologized to me for his behavior. I was mortified by this dr. Fast forward to a couple nights ago, I had to be seen for some pretty god awful pain, there was almost no wait, the staff was extremely friendly and dealt with my humor so I wouldn't break down in tears due to the pain. They seemed like they were listening, and were actually compassionate and caring. The dr who saw me was also in good spirits, and actually did something to help me rather than berate or belittle my issues. Everyone I dealt with the other night was pleasant and I was glad. I hope if I ever have to visit again the quality of care and staff continue improving.

I have been to Union General twice and both experiences were very positive! I recently followed up with their ENT Specialist, Dr Nectman, for a problem with vertigo! What a wonderful experience with him and his lovely staff! They made me feel like a longtime friend...and I got answers to my many questions about the causes of vertigo!
