I only have to go in to pick up packages where a signature is required. Kind of a hassle because one is supposed to be able to request redelivery but it's never worked for me. The counter staff are always friendly and helpful, which can't be easy when it's busy and there are lots of grumpy people who must feel like they are entitled to bowing and scraping. It's an old facility and I can't imagine what they have had to do to keep up with changes in technology for sorting. I always appreciate the help they provide!

The staff on Saturdays have always been helpful and great. The location is one of few open in Seattle on the weekend and they have to handle busy hours and pretty rude folks (ie: loud phone conversations in line, kids running around all over, etc etc.) sometimes. Just know what you need to have ready, or ask them, and they will help you quick and with a friendly demeanor.

if I could give this post office a zero star I would. My wife and I recently moved to Seward Park. We have a dog. The dog is locked in the house except during the morning and evenings when we're home or when a dog walker comes to walk the dog. One day I was working from home. I had a door open in my house so that I could feel the nice fresh air and the warmth of summer The dog was asleep inside the house. When the mail carrier arrived at my house he very basketball he shouted across my fence "Where is the damn dog. I can't deliver to the house with the dog." Now keep in mind this is my first interaction with my mail carrier he didn't introduce himself, or politely ask where the dog was, or even politely say that he would like to hand the mail to me. No he yelled at me. Two days later I get a nasty letter from the postmaster at the local office saying that my dog had done something terribly wrong keep in mind the dog never left the house and the postmaster never even saw her in. Yeah I'm getting threatening letters saying if I don't fix the situation they will hold my mail. when I lived in West Seattle I knew them by name and I gave them a holiday gift. my current postmaster is has the former owners of our house wonder us an explicative and the local postmaster should be ashamed of themselves

So, I went in to mail my Mom's birthday gift, I was in a great mood, and I left in the worst mood ever! It was sad and a real reality check to see why U.S. Post Office is suffering. I was attended by the MANAGER, and she had the worst customer service ! So if we want to fix the system, the U.S. Post service needs to start the reboot with management. After the rude experience I had, AGAIN, I promised myself that I will go out of my way to UPS from now on. Good bye Columbia City Post Office, I'm done!
