This has honestly been the worst experience I’ve ever had at a walk in. The wait was manageable, and the nursing staff was friendly. However my nurse, as friendly as she was, messed up my entire chart. As in almost nothing was correct. When I came in I immediately notified the staff that I do not have health insurance and I would like to be checked to see what could potentially be wrong. I assumed strep throat. I was quoted $70 for the doctors visit and $34 for the throat swab to check for strep. The nurse came in and swabbed my throat, and I waited patiently for results. When the doctor came in, he was some kid who had NO clue what he was doing. It was almost embarrassing to watch him sit there, puzzled, trying to guess what could possibly be wrong with me. He asked me my opinion and I told him and he just nodded and agreed. The ONLY thing he did for me was put a stethoscope on my back and listen to me breathing. (Just like all doctors do) and put a pop sickle stick in my mouth to look at my throat (after i suggested that he should.) That is all that was done for me. After sitting there trying to guess at what was wrong he eventually agreed with me on what my assumptions were and sent me on my way. Here’s the kicker though, he suggested I take the day off until i could get on antibiotics for 24 hours BECAUSE HE DIDN’T KNOW IF WHAT I HAD WAS CONTAGIOUS. Why didn’t he know? Because when I left we were still unsure as to what was actually wrong with me. He couldn’t have been in the room with me for more than ten minutes. Also, just as I had mentioned earlier NOTHING on my chart was correct. They labeled me as 5’4” I’m 5’9”. They said i was 182 and I’m 172. I literally read the scale. They said my blood pressure was through the roof and had to check it again, just to see that there was a mistake. I don’t understand how you can possibly mess up an entire chart like that. Isn’t that information vital as to how much medication you prescribe me with? As I mentioned earlier, I don’t have health insurance and I paid my bill immediately after my visit. What was my bill? $150. $34 for the swab which I’m fine with, and $116 for this oblivious young doctor to put a pop sickle stick in my mouth, mess up my entire chart, and agree with every word i told him. What happened to the $104 I was quoted? Is it my fault for not having health insurance? Sure it is, but was I over charged for this doctors visit. Absolutely. I will NEVER go back to this Urgent Care again.

The receptionist staff and nurses are great. Dr. Slim is the best I always request to have her, very patient, thorough, listens and treats appropriately, Korey-PA was great similar to DR. Slomis, however Adrienne Kennedy-PA I will walk out before she sees me again. I went to urgent care because I couldn't get into my doctor for a follow up from my first visit on 7/3/17 and I wasn't getting relief from the meds ordered which I normally do with bronchitis and was continuing to have fevers. This in total going on 4 days I am now weak because of it she was more concerned with why I wasnt going to my doctor which I told her, why I wasn't working(due to the fevers and how awful I was my work sent me home and agreed another appointment was needed) which I told her. She listened to my lungs, looked in my ears and throat said your fine you don't need any other medication. I told her I recognize clinically and textbook I look fine but symptom wise I am not, she said well if it hurts to breath then go to the ER I informed her it's my lungs not different from Monday. She said she would excuse me from today but there was no reason to not work with fevers with antibiotics. I asked her if she works in such conditions and she said she does so FYI she works when she has a fever even with antibiotics she could be infecting you! When I told her I would try to get into my doctor she ordered prednisone for the inflammation and wrote me off work till Friday to give me time to get into my doctor. When asked to fax the time off document to my employer she refused stating I could do it. I informed her they are requesting it and I work in Lansing. Informed I would take a picture and text it to my boss informing her that she the doctor refused to fax it. Once I got home I took the prednisone and previous meds ordered and fell asleep and got some relief. If she would have listened instead of had terrible bed side manners i wouldn't have been so upset. Easily explaining I understand your not getting relief compared to the past the current meds are the best however prednisone may help out some. Fevers aren't considered contagious when fighting an infection when on antibiotics so by tomorrow you should feel some relief with prednisone. That would have been much better instead of attacking me and making me feel like I was abusing urgent care, trying to get out of work or something else. I left in tears!!! I see my doctor tomorrow. No one should have to feel that way! Spoke with the manager of the urgent care, Bonnie. Bonnie apologized for the treatment I received, she indicated it was not appropriate and not how the urgent care is ran. Both she and the over seeing doctor will be meeting with Adrienne to handle the situation. I will not have to pay my co pay. I was very pleased with my conversation with Bonnie she was very concerned with me. She wrote down the change in medications I received from my primary care doctor and was very empathetic and companionate!

The pa is not knowledgeable and doesn't cross check things she prescribes with medications you currently take. Good thing I checked before taking....

My visit was very pleasant. All of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. My wait time was minimal given the circumstances. This was my first Urgent Care experience. I was nervous about the type of care I would receive after viewing the reviews of similar facilities, but it wasn't even close to the horror show I expected. I would definitely recommend this facility.

Very good experience with these people. Even though the university that supports this med center is my home university's biggest rival, their med service is exceptional! I rate this place 5 stars.
